The Wall [Haushofer, Marlen, Whiteside, Shaun, Louise-Bennett, Claire] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Wall Review: Different, but good! Well written - While this isn’t my usual go-to style book for reading, I was pleasantly surprised by the English-adaptation. Originally written in German, this book transports the reader to a seemingly normal, but suddenly post-apocalyptic setting where a woman is forced to live in her own isolation. It’s a book on survival, loneliness, coping with loss, but also the joys of living a simple life. It’s connection with the natural world and finding one’s identity where society no longer functions. Review: Well written but I found it depressing - It was good to know ahead of time what sad things would be happening, but some happy things might have been a good thing to add as well. Well written but not complete; as in, what do you do when there's no more running water in the bathroom? No mention of digging latrines....overall interesting but sad.

Different.
Loved this book. I watched the movie and I thought the book must be even better. I was able to relate to the main character on many levels, the story was thought provoking and stayed with me.

no chapters
the book is very good and we’ll written, but there are no chapters at all…it is just one long story (which isn’t a bad thing) it just made it a little hard to read (personally). i didn’t know that that’s how it was going to be before i bought it, so i wanted to leave a review so that other people might

A beautiful dystopian novel
This book was so beautiful. I know the main character had it bad, being the last living human that she knows of, but personally I would love to be her - having only cats, a dog, and a cow as my only friends/companions. It was so sweet.

Not really Sci Fi
Is really about one woman's strength in enduring solitude.

Castaway but in the mountains
It’s like the movie Castaway but set in an alpine mountain range. Really good book and you get attached fast to the animals. I loved it.

Powerful reading experience
This was a wonderful, entracing reading experience, i was desperate for the end but invovled in the little daily things of her life along the way. Really highly recommend, powerful feminist perspective that led to a lot of reflection.

Extremely disappointed by the condition the book came in. The first book I got was incredibly damaged, with the cover folded in half, ripped at the edges, and was straight up dirty, along with multiple pages being folded in on themselves. The replacement that was sent was great until I saw that there was a dent that had some sort of dirt or mold in it. I ended up returning that too.

This book was INCREDIBLY BORING and repetitive.
