Physics for Scientists and Engineers Student Solutions Manual, Vol. 1

This solutions manual is as you would expect. It basically reworks the problems in the same format as the book's examples. There is a section helping you to break down the problem into smaller pieces and then it goes through the steps (albeit, with fewer explanations between steps). If you are lost in the book and are willing to devote time to practicing more problems, it will be helpful to you.

I'd give it a negative 1 if I could. This solution manual only contains about a third of the odd number of the problems in the textbook. It repeats solutions (see page 4 and 5 - you'd think that early in the book someone would have caught it). The explanations might be good but there are so few of them they haven't helped to impart any knowledge on how to work the types of problems they cover. Problems of this nature need multiple examples to clearly get the points across. The only nice thing I can say is the column of working the problem next to the column explaining the steps is very helpful, but again, falls short because they cover so very few of the problems.

I was very excited that this came on time and was in the condition described. This was an easy buy

Ehh, yeah, it only has select problems from each chapter. I suppose the argument could be made that if it had all the odd problems then students could just use that for their answers. Well, I kind of feel that is the students prerogative to be lazy and not really learn the material. The test will come back to haunt them, or they will be seen as incompetent by future employers. As for me, I'm not innately smart so like a zillion problems. I do them honestly, and I would like to ensure I did them right for my own understanding. So I'm a bit disappointed.

The Tipler text that this accompanies is horrible, and is why this is a necessity. I learn more about physics from attempting the book's problem, and ending up in here than any other way.

Don't waste your money on this solution book.
