Excellent battery powered chain saw!
Great chain saw! Cuts very nicely! Plenty of power. My first time with a battery powered chain saw and I find it much more convenient. The battery can be a little heavy but not too heavy. Just a well-built device.

This saw cuts like a beaver
I really had severe doubts about ANY battery chainsaw. Up until now, I have only used gas, because they get the job done. I decided to try a battery saw, and I already have an EGO blower, so I waited for the chainsaw to go on sale and bought it. All I did was add the bar oil, and reluctantly approached a tree that was in need of coming down. The only word I can use to describe this saw is, unbelievable. This saw is a beaver. It has more power and cuts better than any gas saw I have ever used. After a few large cuts, I did have to tension the chain, which is a breeze. I cut two fairly large trees completely to the ground and bucked the limbs, and the battery was still showing 2 steps to go until empty. My neighbor came over to see the saw in action, and asked to use it. I gave it to him and he trimmed a few branches and the battery life still had not changed. I absolutely LOVE this saw. Not one complaint. The power is unreal and the oiler works great.

Excellent Product so far - easy to use and saves a lot of time.
I can't begin to tell you how much easier this is to use than my 18" gas chainsaw and how much faster it makes the job. This has plenty of power and cuts through a big 14" tree quickly and easily! The real difference however, showed up when I was clearing a large tree with a lot of branches that had fallen across my driveway. I was cutting branches into smaller sizes to haul away, so there was a lot of putting down the saw, then picking it up to cut, then down again to haul the branch away. The time saved was amazing, because you picked up the saw, pulled the trigger, cut, set the saw down. With the gas one, you'd have to pick it up, start it, rev it, then cut, then turn it off and set it down. The gas saw runs (loudly) the whole time from starting to stopping and it's much heavier. The electric saw only runs for the short few seconds you make a cut. That may not sound like much, but I felt it significantly reduced the time it took me to do the job. Also - no gas/oil mixture to worry about - just bar oil. I like that I can use any of my Ego batteries in this saw. For quick jobs, I can use the light ones that came with my trimmer, but for heavier jobs I've got more and bigger batteries that came with other Ego tools. The only real question now is durability. We'll see how that goes.

Surpassed my expectations, great chainsaw!
I cut trees professionally many many years ago, cutting down stands of pine for telephone pole and pulp. Since then I've had little reason to own a chainsaw. But trees on my property fell during spring storms so I decided to buy a chainsaw. After looking at gas-powered saws many electric models showed up in my search. I have a couple other EGO tools and after reading reviews I decided to try this 18" model. WOW, I'm so glad I went with the EGO electric saw. It's surprisingly powerful, the battery lasts for a lot of cuts. Automatic chain tensioning works very well. Just charge the battery and add bar oil and its ready to cut. For the amount of times I will use this saw it is perfect for my needs. PROS: No gas and oil to mix (or smell, or transport) No pull cords/choke No carburetor/air filter maintenance Very little noise Decent power, cuts as well as many gas models Automatic chain tension adjustment (amazing) Relatively lightweight with good balance CONS: Lots of plastic (industrial grade) in its manufacture even though it is very well built. Probably last a good long time it you take good care of it.

Great saw but 4 amp battery makes it somewhat unbalanced
Great chainsaw with plenty of power - so much better than gas saws when doing yard work when you have to stop/start the saw numerous times - much easier than any gas saw where it can take a few pulls to start it - in short, a great saw but... the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is that the 4.0 amp battery is heavy and makes the saw slightly unbalanced with excess weight on left side - if only doing minor yard work, think about the 2.4 amp battery as that should not affect the balance of the saw as much - the weight is not a problem - just the balance

Loving It So Far
This is my first larger battery based tool. After 2 full day sessions I am impressed. My chain did jump a few times but the tool-free adjustments makes this quick and easy. I expect this will get better as I get more experience with it. As of now, the battery takes about an hour to recharge from 1 section. After reviewing EGo vs a couple of other systems, I decided to join their ecosystem. It is wonderful to be able to start and stop with a push of a button. I hope that with cleaning the unit after each use and good battery charging practices it will give me years of dependable use. Be sure to register your components on receipt so that your warranty will be activated and hopefully assist with any issues down the road.

Big project made easy
This is my third EGO product and I am very impressed with the brand. I already had the blower (love it!) and the weed trimmer which is also awesome. Thought I would give the chainsaw a try and believe me, itโs worth the money. I have a very wooded property and have gone through three chainsaws over the years so I thought I would give this a try. Fantastic power and battery life! Iโm sold on this brand.

So far so good!
I am becoming more and more of a fan of electric power equipment. So far, this 16" bar chainsaw has been great and has been very effective in cutting up timber. I bought this saw more so to cut up limbs on my neighbor's property as she is an older woman. We just recently had a nasty storm move through and it knocked huge limbs down on her property. Largest limb was about 16" in diameter. Made sure the battery was fully charged (4.0Ah) and the bar oil was topped off. It did not have any trouble cutting through the wood. The only issue I ran into was the chain skipped off the bar but didn't break. For the most part, it was pretty easy getting the chain back on and I made sure that it was tight. All in all, it's nice not having to deal with 2-cycle gas, it's quieter, and cleaner (in terms of immediate air pollution). As long as you preplan to have more than one battery and they are charged up, this has been a nice replacement for a gas chainsaw. I just hope the longevity of the unit will be up there.

Stopped working after a few cuts
After making a few cuts, motor packed in. After more than two months of communication with EGO, we still canโt get product repaired. They did establish case number and acknowledged it was under warranty. The repair shop has been unsuccessful contacting the company that handles their warranty after over a month. We have been without the use of this very expensive saw all spring and summer. EGO has not responded to latest email.
