If you're looking for a solid notebook, let me share my experience with the Field Notes Pitch Black. I picked this little guy up a few months ago, and it's been a game changer for me. The sleek black cover caught my eye immediately—it’s got that cool, minimalist vibe that I love. One of the first things I noticed was the perfect size. At 3.5” x 5.5”, it slips right into my pocket or bag, so it's always handy when inspiration strikes. Whether I'm jotting down random thoughts, sketching ideas for my next project, or making to-do lists, this notebook has been my go-to. The paper quality is top-notch. It's super smooth, and I've used everything from ballpoint pens to my favorite fountain pen, and there's zero bleed-through. The dot-grid pattern is a game changer. It's so versatile—great for notes, sketches, or bullet journaling. I even used it to map out a mini garden layout, and it worked like a charm. What really impressed me is how tough this notebook is. It’s been tossed around in my bag, stuffed in pockets, and it’s still holding up strong. Plus, it's made in the USA with eco-friendly materials, which makes me feel good about using it. Overall, the Field Notes Pitch Black Notebook is stylish, durable, and totally worth it. It's become an essential part of my daily routine.

Great little note books for people who are forgetful. Paper is nice, and construction is quality. I use this product to draw out site maps, note, to do list, names, and contact info. I suggest this note book to anyone.

So recently, I decided to change a few of my daily habits. One of those habits is to stop using and relying on my electronics. For a long period of time, I was a daily user of the Apple Notes App. I felt like it was taking away my ability to write and spell...hahahaha.... So I have been familiar with Field Notes as I've seen other use this notebook. I jumped in on it and love it. Small, light and super convenient, I now find myself writing more and more everyday.

Comparing to my previous sketchbook, the Moleskine Cahier XL. The Field notes is a bit smaller, and only comes in the this, or the memo (a bit over ~3x5") size, while the Cahier comes in memo, medium (slightly larger than the Field Notes) and an XXL. So if you extra size for sketching, go for Moleskine or other art oriented book. The Field Notes Notebook size does not lose a noteworthy (ha) amount of space from the Cahier XL. The Field Notes of course comes in dot graph. This is probably the most notable improvement over the Moleskine, which does offer a square grid, but but not a dot graph. I much prefer dot to full square, but for those who like plain, again Moleskine has that option where Field Notes is more selective with options. I also prefer the paper in the Pitch Black Notebook; it is slightly thicker, smoother, and whiter for clear sketching, which I prefer in a sketchbook especially if you wish to use color. Oh, and don't forget Field Notes are made in the USA and just feel more fun and personal to use with their front and rear covers packed with fun or useful information including a 17cm/07in. ruler, places to write your own pertinent contact, location and start/end date. You do miss out on the rear cover pocket featured on the Moleskine Cahiers. I don't miss the the pocket though, it's implementation wasn't that great. Being an extra piece glued to the back, it was unable to hold an entire (unfolded) torn out sheet from the notebook itself. TLDR; I prefer the Field Notes Pitch Black Dot-Graph! Field Notes Pitch Black Notebook. >Dot rule is awesome! I prefer it to plain or square grid. >Thicker, smoother, whiter paper. >Fun and useful info covering front and back covers. >Made in the USA. Moleskine Cahier XL >Slightly larger, also available in XXL. >Rear pocket is nice, if too small.

I love these notebooks. They're durable. They hold up really well. They're the perfect size to stick in a backpack or a back pocket.

These books are great. Exactly what I needed for my design sketches my only wish now is that the medium sized books comes in the different colours and designs as the pocket version. The pocket sizes are too small for me but I do like all their designs.

Thick paper cover with very nice dot paper. I like the size and durability of these notebooks.

These are perfectly sized and shaped for use in my little shop area. Bigger than the regular Field Notes but still smaller than an A5 notebook. I pair mine with a Rotring 600 and Uniball Jetstream SXR refills, I've gone through a dozen or so over the years and they fit nicely in the front pocket of my shop apron. Great paper quality - I've used a fountain pen with it before with minimal bleed, and the cover cardstock is durable. Folds flat for edge-to-edge writing. Great notebook.
