Excellent for ice cream lovers!
This household consumes a lot of ice cream when I buy it. Can’t keep it for long, in fact. The cost of ice cream is also going up, and the containers getting smaller as well as all the additives. Decided to make my own ice cream. This attachment to my kitchen aid has been the best investment! Easy to use, super sturdy. I permanent store my bowl in the freezer so it’s ready to use in a moments notice. Takes about 30 minutes and the slowest stir speed, per instructions, so don’t try to speed it up. I’ve made several quarts now and no signs of cracking or leakage as mentioned in reviews. Easy to clean by just rinsing, and wiping only the exterior (or your towel will freeze to the sides). Am I saving money? Yes. A little, I use organic ingredients so savings is about 14 cents per ounce. If I used nonorganic, I would save more. Whether organic or not, you are still not getting the additives and such with store bought. It’s also sparked imagination as to what we can make. The latest was Hawaiian hula pie-inspired (Leilani’s in Maui - see photo) and chocolate peanut butter. Enjoy!

IDK if I will buy ice-cream again!
I bought this last July. I've haven't bought ice-cream since. Make sure you buy the KitchenAid brand. Here's the pros, cons and a few tips: Pros 1. The bowl is easy to figure out how to assemble. 2. Stays really cold for at least 25 minutes. 3. Easy to clean after each use. 4. The KitchenAid brand seems well made. Cons 1. I wish it came with some kind of blade scraper. Like most machines, the ice cream is difficult to get off of the paddle. 2. The bowl takes up a lot of space in the freezer. Tips 1. Freeze the bowl for a whole 24 hours instead of 16. 2. Separate your ice-cream custard into quart size mason jars and refrigerate so it's nice and cold before using it. The recipe I use makes 2 quarts so I have one for later. There's enough sugar and it'll keep a few weeks. 3. Only use a quart plus about a cup and a half of whatever ice cream custard and flavor. It might seem like there's a lot more room but as air incorporates, the ice cream will take up the whole bowl. 3. Mix the ice-cream on the slowest speed for 20-25 minutes. 4. Here's the recipe I use. I add salt too and mix my flavor in a bowl with a whisk before putting it in the maker. I suggest doing it that way because I have learned that the bowl is so cold, the paddle can freeze to the bowl.

Ice Cream Mixing Bowl for KitchenAid
Works great - we made ice cream during the summer (got the recipe book, too) and it was delicious. You have to pre-freeze the bowl before you use it, so that’s something to keep in mind. It was fun and easy.

Love me some ice cream!
I shouldn't love this as much as I do. It makes amazing ice cream! Freezing time takes at least overnight. Very easy to clean - do not put it in the dishwasher! It's quite versatile and can be used for ice cream, gelato, or sorbet. Texture of your ice cream will really depend on your ingredients, but my favorite is a egg based custard ice cream. Didn't use a metal spoon to eat ice cream right out of it, you'll scratch the surface. If it starts leaking light blue liquid out the side like you've stabbed a smurf, then it's time to replace your bowl. Pictured is my most recent creation, rocky road!

Fantastic attachment
This was a fantastic attachment for my wife. The functionality of it is great. It made probably in our minds the best ice cream we have ever had. You need to make sure you freezer is at its lowest setting to get the bowl to freeze. We set ours to -4 and it came out frozen just like you need it to. The texture of the ice cream was firm but so smooth and silky. Its consistency was spot on. If you are looking to make your own homemade ice cream then you can go wrong with this attachment.

Instructions could be better.
I had two issues with the product, both minor. First, the connector attachment doesn't fit flush to the mixer, which makes it a bit awkward to setup - not difficult, just awkward. The instructions do not tell you that once you start churning the ice cream, you cannot stop until it is completed period. If you stop he mixer for any reason, do NOT restart it. If you do, the plastic connector will snap as the dasher will have frozen in the bowl. This happened to me when our power went out for about 30 seconds then came back on. I wasn't close enough to get to the mixer to stop it when the power came back on and I heard a loud snap and the connect plastic had broken. It would have been nice if there was a warning in the instructions about power outages. Overall though, the ice cream maker works well. I made a no-added sugar chocolate ice cream with sugar free chocolate chips mixed in as well as a pink champagne sorbet. Both were quick and easy. Clean-up is simple. The bowl does take up a large amount of my freezer space prior to making the ice cream. My freezer is set a -1 F, so it only takes about 15 minutes to churn the ice cream.

Impressive and easy!
I am impressed with the attachment and the mixer. The bowl was placed in freezer the night before I wanted ice cream. The directions said 20 minutes of mixing; however mine was done in less than 8 minutes. Super easy to use . Perfect capacity and stayed cold. The cleaning was super easy too; I ran cool water and let it set until outside was thawed and the fluid on the inside sounded slushy. Next time I will make the ice cream when ready to eat, rather than storing it for next day.

Works Fine on my Older Refurbished KitchenAid Artisan Mixer
Rufus / AI tells me this will Not fit my KitchenAid Artisan RRK 160, That is WRONG! It DOES indead fit a Remanufactured Model, at least it fits Mine without problem! the stir attachment looks a little flakey, but it works, Just Make Sure you start/run the Mixer on Setting 1, like it says BEFORE you install/PUT the Ice Cream Mixture into the POT I just made my 1st batch of Ice Cream, and its great. I split it into 2 (4 cup) batches. The first batch was stiff as expected, 2nd still worked buy it didn't get setup as well, but i put it all in a Sealed Tub in freezer to finish hardening. My Ice Cream base was as follows 2 Pints Heavy Cream, 2-3/4 Cups Whole Milk, 1-2/3 Cups Sugar, 1/4 Teaspoon of Ground Sea Salt, and Finally 3 Table Spoons of Vanilla Extract. I put the Heavy Cream in sauce pan (med heat) added Sugar, and stir until Sugar is disolved, and took off heat, added rest of items, and chilled in ice box, until the POT was ready for action (16 Hours). Turned out great, it makes a little over 8 Cups. I Did 4 Cups at a time, anyway, it worked FINE for me.

Helado casero!
Es un producto genial, solamente que en algunos congeladores va necesitar estar más tiempo en congelación para que pueda funcionar de manera adecuada, el tiempo de elaboración de la nieve ronda en los 20 minutos.

I should haved bought this a long tiime ago. Ice cream maker is perfect!
Love this addition to my Kitchenaid mixer. I will never buy any ice cream again. I've made peach, strawberry, blueberry, lemon, (ice cream, sorbet and gelato), Baileys, and I'm just starting. Your limited to your imagination and the number of containers I have. It's so easy to use. I freeze the container for at least two days before I want to use it. I also put my ingredients together the night before and put it in the fridge. Once I'm ready to make the ice cream, I pull out the maker from the freezer and immediately use the fridge-cold mix. My ice cream takes a lot less time than the recipe says. I should have bought this a long time ago. The ice cream is so good: no preservatives, colouring of aritifical flavours. Pure and natural. This is a great addition and works very well. No I need to buy more ice cream containers (insulated from Amazon) so that can make more varieties. Summer is coming!
