Quality monitor with options
I bought the outdoor monitor to add to my suite of outdoor data with my Tempest weather station. I am very happy with the station and the accuracy of the reporting. Here's the breakdown. Pros - Extremely easy installation. PoE (injector included) - if you hardwire it into a switch that's it. It's online ready to go. - 2 extremely high quality CAT6 cables are included - Aforementioned accuracy - Charting on the web app is great, months, days, hours, and minutes - Has an API that can be used to make custom displays etc (see con below) - Adding modules is as easy as inserting it into the device Cons - The CO2 module is *not* given away. You will pay a hefty sum for that data - Adding the CO2 module still leaves an empty slot in the device. I would love to add an O3 module to that slot. Con is that there is a slot that isn't utilized. - In order to gain access to the API of the device you *have* to share your data with the community. Personally, I am not a fan of this. I don't need people to be able to lookup on a map the exact location of a $400+ device (with CO2 module). Solution to this is make the location in an adjacent neighbor's yard! ;) - The app is pretty meh. The best data you can get is out of the website. At least on iOS it does have a widget which is ok. - The API does not include particle counts and there is no formula to extrapolate that data. Extremely minor quibble, but it's on the website as a data pid, but not in the API. Summary This device works extremely well hardwired into a switch. My monthly uptime report shows 100% uptime with destroys all the Purple devices along with anything else in the area. If I look at my chart on the community it's complete, anything else has hours of gaps. That right there tells me it's a good setup. The AQI readings are spot on with what others report, you can see spikes from environmental impacts in real time. I would recommend this to anyone interested in monitoring AQI, one of the things that really bothered me with Purple is that I was required to pay $40 for an AC adapter since it is NOT included. So really that makes this device quite the bargain against a Zen. The only reason I rated it 4 stars, not 5 is that I really dislike conditions tied around API access and I really want more data considering I have a completely empty slot in the device. I would love to see the price pushed down just a bit and more module options. Again, extremely happy with the purchase. Edit: I have increased the review to 5 stars based on product support. I had an issue where one of the PM modules had the fan seize which caused it to make noise. I called support and they asked that I identify the module, ensure it was free of dirt and debris. If it didn’t fix the issue, call back. It didn’t fix the issue so I called back. The support team validated my serial number/warranty and shipped out a replacement no cost no return of the faulty module. Furthermore, this was not an offshore call center. The experience was so refreshing they earned that last star.

Airvisual Outdoor is simple to install
Really all you need to do is sync your wifi router to the device, all you need is your wifi/router password, then once synced you can begin install which is really just a few screws and you snap the device on the hook.. then drill a small hole into the wall, feed the flat ethernet cable into the wall and plug it into the adapter that comes with the device and that's it! You can use the app on your phone or ipad to see real-time air quality information. It's perfect for me since I have neighbors that smoke, I can tell if I should open my doors/windows or not. Also, we have a lot of fires going on during the summer. You can also setup push notifications on your phone when the air is getting bad, it'll alert you on your phone, and when the airs starting to get good it also alerts you as well (you can set the AQI when you would want notifications too). All in all it was a great buy, I'm waiting for my airvisual indoor so i can pair it so I can always see what's going on outside without having to login to the app. EDIT: I just purchased the Airvisual pro and it was simple to connect the Airvisual Outdoor to the pro. Just go on your phone or tablet and find the "sharable code" and go into the airvisual pro and type it in and save. The reason why I got the airvisual pro is I no longer have to go on my phone or tablet to see the outdoor reading, if you go on those you don't get "real time" information, you have to keep refreshing the page which is annoying.. With airvisual pro I can see real-time readings at a glance which is very convenient.

Avoid IQAir Sensors. No Support, No Transparency, and Useless Data
I regret purchasing an IQAir sensor. The product itself is unreliable, but the real failure is their nonexistent customer support. When you call in, the representatives have zero training, no technical knowledge, and no ability to actually troubleshoot the product. They’re simply there to answer the phone and tell you they’ll “escalate” your issue. The so-called tech team? Completely unresponsive—emails go unanswered, and despite multiple follow-ups, I’m still waiting for a callback from a supervisor. The initial issue was simple—my sensors were reporting erratic data. I attempted to replace them myself, but the data remained inconsistent. While other sensors like PurpleAir and AirGradient reported low particulate levels, the IQAir sensor’s algorithm inflated AQI readings significantly. For example, my sensor’s raw data might show a PM2.5 in the single digits, but the public AQI output would report 55. This suggests their system manipulates readings to influence publicly available air quality data rather than reflecting actual conditions. On top of that, their dashboards are completely closed off. Historical data is poorly visualized and lacks transparency. If you’re looking for a reliable, open-data air quality sensor, I strongly recommend AirGradient, which allows for full data publication and transparency. PurpleAir is also a solid alternative—while I’ve seen some sensor drift over time, their platform is much more open and useful than IQAir’s locked-in, opaque system. Bottom line: IQAir sensors are overpriced, inaccurate, and completely unsupported. Do yourself a favor and go with a company that actually values its customers. I contacted the CEO of North America. Will update if I get a response.

Not bad, could use a few improvements
Requires a factory reset to use ethernet if wifi was previously configured and the product uses non-standard passive POE. The modular sensor form factor has massive potential if IQAir chooses to expand beyond just the optional CO2 sensor.

Buyer beware
Summary: outdoor unit works great at first, but seems to have a short lifespan. Indoor unit doesn't report much and isn't worth the price. Data reliability is questionable on both. Customer support isn't great. Details: I bought the outdoor unit, which worked great for about 3 weeks. I have a neighbor that lives close by that frequently burns things that cause a lot of smoke, and the unit detected the hazardous particulates and AQI every time I either saw or smelled the smoke in my yard and my house, showing appropriately low readings when there was no smoke. I like that I can open the app and see the current and past data at any point in time, however I've noticed that data for each minute is not recorded; the data that appears in the app is an hourly average. So if there is a high level of pollutants around the unit for 40 minutes, but then very good air for 20min, all that data will be averaged and air quality reported as "acceptable" for the hour, which is misleading. You have to have the data every minute to have a good understanding of the particulate levels. Then one day the unit randomly stopped working; the data went from correctly reading high values to suddenly dropping to zero, despite the obvious presence of smoke in my yard. I thought the sensors had been plugged due to the constant influx of smoke. I rebooted the device, then followed the suggested procedure by unplugging the unit and blowing out the sensors, then rebooted it again. I even did a factory reset. It didn't make a difference, but I left it on and contacted customer service. It suddenly started working again on its own several days later, worked for about a day, then stopped working again. The readings have been hit or miss since then. My first email to customer service was very positive, and caused me to also buy the indoor monitor. Although I liked being able to see what the outdoor readings were at any given moment on the indoor unit, the indoor unit only reports CO2, temp, and humidity, which I found to be very basic and not worth $300. I also found the data reported on the actual unit was different than that reported on the app. At one point, it also seemed as though the indoor unit was messing with the accuracy of the outdoor unit. I returned the indoor unit. As other people have reported, my experience with customer service after that first email has been very negative. I explained that the outdoor sensor had suddenly stopped working and included screenshots of data to show it. It's like the person didn't even read the email. On top of that, even though I kept replying to the same email, I was getting a different person every time. Then one of them told me I was wrong and that my unit was functioning perfectly, even though I know it wasn't and had included data to show that (I also have video of visible smoke around the sensor). I'm not business savvy, but I know the phrase "the customer is always right". Even if I hadn't provided a detailed explanation and evidence that the unit had stopped working, I think customer service could have come back with a better reply than "you're wrong, it's working perfectly". My reply back was that it was apparent that the sensors had stopped working despite the unit only being exactly 1 month old. I was told I could buy new sensors on their website (which are expensive). I replied that I didn't understand why I needed to buy them, as the unit was only a month old. I was asked to provide the purchase info, which I did (even though they already know that because the unit is automatically registered when you connect it). I got an email back saying again that I could buy the sensors from their website. I provided the purchase info again, but again received an email asking for the same info. I decided to write this review after several more back and forth emails on this same topic of purchase info and sensor replacement. It seems like the company doesn't want to take responsibility for faulty sensors and replace them under warranty. It also seems like they will play this back and forth email game to stall for time: I had contacted them at 3 weeks from purchase, but by the time the 8th email went around, I was at 32 days and was informed that it was outside the 30 day return policy and couldn't be returned. I feel like they're going to drag out this thing with the sensors for months to avoid having to replace them for free under warranty. In addition, the support team can apparently access and modify the data from the device at any time, which calls into question the reliability of the data. The unit should just detect particulates and report data around itself. Sure it's nice to compare to regional data, but the local data should in no way be influenced by it or modified to or corrected against it, especially if the regional location is multiple towns/districts/counties away from your device. This device had so much potential and initially worked great that it's unfortunate to have to leave a poor overall review. I am going to look into the sensors recommended by others in their reviews of this product.

Indoor plus outdoor plus IFTTT for smart HVAC is perfect
Simple. Works. The software is a bit confusing and clunky and synchronization between device/mobile/cloud wonky but once that is overcome and learned it doesn't matter. The important things are there so I don't dock a star. This has been an important add for HVAC control due to local use of heavily polluting wood burning. By it I can halt an ERV automatically via IFTTT smart plug or manually and switch to a MIRV 16 filter if necessary, but generally just stopping the ERV overnight is enough along with a MIRV 13 on the furnace to keep indoor AQI well in the green. But if that stops working in the winter a modification to a HEPA pre-filter on the ERV or upgrading to a HEPA capable ERV will be sufficient. Great product and it does exactly what I needed. Well done! Please keep it simple and indoor + outdoor + IFTTT integration options. Other competitors with hubs and a multitude of sensors are over complicated in my estimation. This is perfect.

WARNING What IQ AIR wont tell you
My goals: Use POE to power the PM monitor, collect PM data and use it with Home Assistant. The good: -Well built. -replaceable PM modules -Powered over Ethernet deal-breakers they don't tell you: The data is only available in a limited way through their app only unless: -You spend another $300 on their indoor monitor (this will poll your pm monitor and make it available to Home Assistant.) -Allow IQAir to take control of your data to add to their international AQI dataset (they require you to send them picture of the installation for approval. They will compare your data to your neighbors to investigate. Then you may get the API for personal use) -pay for a corporate membership will make the API available. At the same time, you can just register and get an API for polling your neighbors data without spending a dime. so whats the point of spending all this money? I returned the item once I found out they want me to spend more money or take over my data. They require $11 for returns. No problem. I will continue to wait for a competitive PM monitor that is POE and well adjusted to home assistant and privacy.

Good product, easy to setup
The product quality is really good, no doubt about that. Installation process also very simple. Unfortunately the wall plug inside the box was upside down, and I've to contact seller for a replacement. They answered in a couple days and the problem solved less than 2 weeks. The local team (Mr. Kyle) send me the alternative wall plug which solve my outdoor setup problem.
