I love these little connectors, I like them much better than alligator clips for most situations, although if you suddenly need alligator clips, these have a through output so that you can plug alligator clips into them, essentially giving you 4 leads at once, very nice feature that I didn't even notice at first. They don't feel too cheap in my opinion, and I've been using them quite a bit lately and they've held up just fine. The spring is pretty strong and if you're hooking up to the end of a wire, it'll pretty much suck it up inside preventing any shorts from occurring. Really glad I got these along with my power supply as you can hook up to some pretty tiny connectors. If I had to choose between these and the alligator clips that came with my bench power supply, I'd take these any day. Can't go wrong with 'em!

I tried various types, but these worked the best for bench prototyping. I just bought a bunch more so I wouldn't have to keep swapping them around from power supply to power supply.

MUCH better test leads than I expected! Soft, easily manipulated wires. And the small 'hooks' on the probes curve back towards the leads, effectively capturing the legs of discrete devices like resistors and ICs. Unlike many competing designs, the contacts of the banana plugs are a separate component and seem to be made from a tempered springy metal like beryllium copper.
