Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig [Blu-ray]

As pretty much the only way to get an English Blu-ray of the show, it's not a bad deal and at a good price. Show is phenomenal, one of the all-time greats in my opinion, but the menu on the Blu-ray is pretty men, just like the first season of SAC. Overall everything ON the discs are fine to great in quality as audio can fluctuate but picture quality is consistently great. The real issue is the case. I, along with several friends bought this over the past few years and it's the same story, the case is always broken in some way. The blu-ray won't stay in place unless the case is closed, the minute the case opens they come tumbling out of place since the Centerpiece to each holder is broke. It's not that we just got unlucky either, I've bought several copies for family or friends and it's always the same story. Tl;DR: Show is great, quality of picture and audio is more than acceptable, case is the product of Satan and crucifixion would be a mercy for its designer and whoever green-lit its users in production. I'll only rate 5 stars because it's so cheap, Blu-rays are tough and shouldn't have problems from any josseling, and the show is a must see for any fans of cyberpunk, political/psychological thrillers, and future warfare theory. (To whoever allowed the cheap-ass cases in production: Dishonor on you, dishonor on your whole family!)

Watched this series when I was a kid so it throws me back watching Section 9 fight to stop internal and external government issues before it's too late!

I only recently discovered Ghost in the Shell and have since been watching everything related to it I can find. This second season of the TV show is a truly outstanding series that enhances your understanding of the world of Ghost in the Shell. Although there is one main plot for the series, there are a lot of stand alone episodes that provide more insight into each of the main characters. In my opinion this is a much better season than season one simply because of the high quality of each of the episodes. While season one is great and should be watched, it had several episodes that came across as filler instead of expanding the world of GITS. If you like high quality anime this is the show for you. I would recommend starting with the movies and then moving on to the first season simply so you have a good background of the world of GITS.

The kids like this better than I do, but my son and I were discussing it last night after watching an episode. (We haven't watched to the end, yet.) It's good, and thought-provoking, but it suffers in that its pacing is rougher than the first season. It might be trying to do more (there seem to be more side-episodes for the side characters), or the Stand Alone Complex they're exploring may be more complicated or less well thought-through, but it feels rougher. It's definitely very Japanese, and there are a number of eyebrow-raising moments. Definitely not for small children in the US. We'll see how it wraps up, though having seen Season One all the way through, I'm not expecting a satisfying conclusion. The Ghost in the Shell world is a dark one, and while that might be what some people want, it's less satisfying for me.

There's a lot a bad reviews about this blu ray release. I took the chance and got it anyway. Reviews were saying that it has a audio problem, like I randomly changes from english to japanese. I just finished the entire thing. First off it's absolutely beautiful in pictures quality. Second yes I did switch from english to japanese.. on one word. There's a scene in the first episode where they count down and say go before rushing into the building. It was at thus spot where instead of go it was the japanese world for go. That's it. That's what all these bad reviews where complaining about. Wow really? I would say get this blu ray collection. It's a great story and looks amazing on blu ray. If your a ghost in the shell fan this is absolutely a must watch. Love it. Totally worth getting and watching.

最近YouTubeで公開されててかなり昔に見てましたがまたじっくり見たくてブルーレイを探しました。 国内版はびっくりするほど高くて……(￣▽￣;) 北米版のこちらを購入。 PS4で普通に見れます。 オープニングやエンディングなどの人の名前などがアルファベット表記になってるだけなのでコレクションとして手元に置いておきたいならこちらので十分な気がします

OK, Honest review. Audio issues, None. Good clear audio, no fading crackling or other weird stuff. Language issues, In the third episode, Batou is riding in a Tachikoma, when something happens and he says something in Japanese, and you hear it in Japanese, and it's not translated. That is the only instance of mixed up languages in the series. Oh yeah the intro song is in some other language, but to me big whoop, not critical. Don't care how mixed up it is, that's when I go for snacks. Video issues, None! Good clear Video, and no glitches. Subtitles are in the English dub only and properly match what is being said on audio Disc issues, This set is recorded as one single track, with no chapters, so to go Back and forth use you fff & rrr buttons on your remote. The only divisions are between the episodes. And yes the little Tachokoma snippets are still at the end of each episode. On a plus point when you are at the end of one disc you can insert the next one and hit play and it automatically continues. I didn't watch the Japanese language version, and why would I when I can't understand one word of it. I am happy to have this in my collection, and can truthfully say is this is a great exciting series to watch!

内容は、申し分ない傑作アニメだと思います。 映像もブルーレイ版なので綺麗でした。 再生環境は、リージョンフリーではない パイオニアの再生専用プレイヤーで、数年前の物ですが、問題無く再生出来ます。 他の方のレビューにもある通り、パート割が１話づつなので、タチコマな日々だけを観たい場合などには不便ではありますが、値段の事を考えると些細な事ではないでしょうか。 あと、輸入版なのでオープニングと、エンドクレジットなどのスタッフ名などは英語表記です。しかし、個人的な感想ではありますが英語表記の方が作品に合っていると思います。 本編は、強制字幕も無く日本語音声で観れます。また、他の方のレビューにあった。音声が半音高い、音声の速度が変だとありましたが、オリジナルDVDを視聴済みの自分には個人的な感想ですが、違和感はありませんでした。 以上の事を参考にして、この作品の購入検討してみてください。
