Does it need a sealer to prevent further tarnigh on brass?

Yes, it must be sealed or tarnish follows Quickly. With rubber gloves, Clean cloth apply Acetone and wipe clean after drying. ( Maybe a second coat to be sure). Not touching item, except with Clean gloves, using a spray can, spray with lacquer assuring only a super fine mist is applied. If droplets appear, the drops will show when dried(!) so Rw lean if necessary-“get the mist-not droplets”. Let dry, maybe a second coat if it’s a wear type brass handled by people. It’s somewhat an art; large items( beds, etc) need good mechanical sprayers, etc. Good luck.
