Well made socket that is a dream to fit. Replaced one in minutes. No fiddling about when the conductors are short. Can be done with two hands instead of the usual three!

The snap lever connections (much like the wagos) came in really handy when i had to replace the sockets under the kitchen units. So much easier snapping the lever down over having to screw the leads into terminals, especially with the limited space there was under the kitchen cabs.

I bought 1 of these for upgrading a single socket on a ring main to a double with a spur as like others it's useful having 3 terminals for L,N & E when you've got a spur off the socket. Socket and connections are good and springs are tight holding wires. The problem comes if your wires coming out of the wall are short as the terminals are low on the bottom of the socket, so you need wire length. I had to revert to using a standard double with screw terminals as these are located in the middle of the socket. Note that the screwless versions are made in Malaysia and the screwed versions are made in the UK. I've always bought MK sockets as they are generally of a high quality and it's nice to standardise on a brand where you can get all the accessories !

What can I say, this has to be the best designed double plug socket ever. No screwdriver is required to fit the wires in. These are pretty much idiot-proof. I saw these double sockets being fitted on a video on YouTube by ‘PROPER DIY’ this guy has uploaded loads of videos to help other DIY enthusiasts. Well worth watching. The MK double sockets themselves are clearly marked out on the back and allow individual fitting of each cable on the back without the need to wrap them round so no fiddling required. Well worth the money. Highly recommend.

I am purely posting this review from seeing all the reviews were people have complained or something didn't work out quite right for them. I am not an electrician but I do know my stuff. I installed 5 of these in my new work from home office into some trunking and I had absolutely no trouble whatsoever. If you put your mind to it, pull the clamps back fully then put the wires into their destination then push down the clamps, you'll have no issues. Sometimes people just don't know what they are really doing and in turn, discourage others from trying a product just because they've left a negative review on it, purely because they didn't know what they were doing. They weren't following the instructions that were provided with the product. Those reviews genuinely put me off at the start, should I try these, should I not? I ended up trying them and they are amazing sockets.

I like the way they look and in principle the quality looks sound, but 1 of them came broke - the switch wouldn't be pressed unless you would push hard. This can happen , however the more pressing issue was raised by the electrician who fitted them. While it is simpler to clip the wires in place - if you don't press hard the contact is weak - and nobody wants weak contacts - it seems less safe than a screw fitting. Other than that I appreciate the fact that they have dedicated contacts for extending the power line to the next socket.

I had seen this socket online and decided to get a couple. Once I realised how far I had to lift the clips then all wiring was securely fastened. The problem is when you try something new you never really know how far to lift levers. Lift the colour coded levers so they are perpendicular to the socket and you know you’re spot on. Even the package the socket comes in is great for non-professionals as it informs you of the wiring colour changes. Black, red, blue, brown. Ensuring you clip the correct wires into the right section. The only thing that is needed now is for the style of plug to be increased from just white to chrome and nickel depending on the decor of your house. I’m sure that will come with time. All in all an excellent piece of kit of which I’ll definitely be buying more when needed.
