**Verify part fits before purchasing**Specs:Description: Ring Compressor KitComplete kit includes three different-size plastic rings and locking clamp.Compresses piston rings from a range of 40mm to 60mm diameter Review: Ring compressor - Worked great on small engine 80cc motor cycle Review: Very handy accessories! - I didn’t see a need for these because I could slide a cylinder onto a piston fairly easily, but after using one of these for the first time I was blown away with how much easier it is. Fantastic tool! And the added piston stops are a good touch as well

So easy even a Neanderthal can do it
I bought this thinking it was a stupid way to put a piston in a cylinder with rings. I'm a metal and chrome guy at heart… plastic? PLEASE! OK first, I was WRONG. The flexibility and spring of the plastic compression rings is perfect. Once I snapped the rings into their place on the piston (Reminder: 2 cycle pistons normally have a guide pin the gap in the ring goes there AND it makes a difference which side of the ring is facing up… . the top of the piston). A common mistake by most novice motor fixers is to put the rings on upside down. When that happens, they'll never get the cylinder to slide onto the piston… (voice of experience). Pre-lube every surface (including the roller bearing and the crank main bearing areas, so they don't create extra wear on assembly AND on initial start up. Step 1: slide the funny looking rectangular thing with a slot in it (piston stabilizer) onto the connecting rod and under the base of the piston. Then, rotate the motor flywheel until the piston is resting on top of the stabilizer block. Step 2: Pick the correct size ring tool for your piston (up to 60 mm) and wipe it down with a lint free cloth. smear a little bit of oil on the inside, squeeze it around the top of the piston, compressing the rings into their slots. Step 3: Pick up the cylinder assembly (if it's a Husqvarna 395XP put the carb on before you do this makes a big difference in your later steps), align the base of the cylinder to the piston and slowly slide it down onto the piston. You'll hear a click if you misalign the cylinder and rings as the ring snaps out of the slot… DON'T FORCE IT! If that happens, and you see the ring sticking out of the slots in the piston, STOP. lift the cylinder off and start from Step 1. The guide is just slippery enough but tight enough to slide down the piston while you're pushing the cylinder and controlling the rings. Would I buy this again? YES Is it a good bargain? Heck YES

Why did you pick this product vs others?: good price

Works well
This is much better than trying to work the rings into the cylinder. Also helps with checking timing modifications when porting 2 stroke engines

Didn't work for what I needed
Couldn't get this to work for my chainsaw. I ended up just being able to use my fingers to compress the rings

I reseved my Stens 751-045 Stens Ring Compressor Kit and everything looks good, all peaces where in the kit. I thought I'd mention it as one reviewer mentioned peaces missing.... the only thing i probably won't be useing are the white and black pisten stops as I prefer useing nylon rope for a more even pressure on the pisten crown... instead of one spot witch would put to much stress in one spot... and take the chance of cracking/breaking a pisten just to remove a clutch or flywheel... I recommend this kit to anyone that cares about there equipment... all do a update if i have any issues... witch i don't think I will... happy tinkering... :)
