Doesn't work, can slip & cover baby's eyes
Just doesn't stay on my 6 month olds' head. pretty much useless. Even if we force fit on my daughter, she manages to remove it in 2 mins. It can also slip on the head and cover my baby's eyes, which does more harm and causes danger than increase safety

and the pattern is so adorable we will probably still use this helmet some even ...
Update: 14 mos. She wears this helmet all the time. During the worst of the summer heat, where it was around 100 degrees, we'd take helmet breaks and sprinkle her head with cool water and she did fine. It's been at the splash pad and around a concrete pool deck, has been washed and dried with some fading. It has spared us some really serious accidents and gives her freedom to explore EVERYWHERE without mommy constantly over her shoulder, pulling her back from would-be trips to the ER. Honestly, I think any kid this age could benefit from these helmets. We've received a lot of compliments and had a lot of friends, family and strangers asking us where we got ours. As many people that did survive serious head injuries as children, there were so many more who went through a lot of pain or had lasting damage that could have been spared them. My kid is not yet steady on her feet. She careens through her environment like a pinball. Because of her helmet, I can stand back and keep an eye from a safe distance, giving her room to play independently and not letting her Von Willebrand's get in the way of normal kid stuff. On the plus side, this thing is adorable and makes her look like the mushroom from Mario Bros. My daughter was just diagnosed with von Willebrand's Disease, a disease similar to hemophilia, which runs in my family. She is frighteningly physical - a 'daredevil' who at 11 months is already scaling the side of her playpen and throws herself at random onto her back on the floor or against walls/her crib rails. We bought this helmet as an interim helmet while sorting out the finances for the more expensive medical one. I have to say, I am impressed! While a bit large and bulky, the helmet does fit her head. The ties are not as awkward as I thought they would be, and the pattern is so adorable we will probably still use this helmet some even after the medical one comes. Her head is definitely protected and she learned pretty quickly to keep it on and not try and pull it off. My issues are: it is difficult to keep the helmet on tight enough not to slide around on her head without also leaving little imprints on her head from the fabric folds. I feel like we can't really win either way, but I also don't see how this could be improved. I wish the ties were actually an adjustable buckle. That said, the ties are way less obtrusive and annoying than I thought they would be. In short, this is a cute and functional helmet at a great price. I don't think you need to have a child with special needs just to buy one. As a parent, you know your child. Some kids are just brutal. Personally, I feel much more at ease knowing that we will be spared the panic of rushing to the hospital on a Sunday night because the baby threw herself onto the floor and now we need a scan to see if she is bleeding! You can't put a price on peace of mind.
