Great replacement for old dbx subwoofer
The foam surrounds in my old dbx subwoofer speakers (circa 1990) finally crumbled apart due to age. I didn't realize this until I recently rearranged my audio setup and took the opportunity to open the subwoofer panel and check things out. I had experience in the past with the foam cone surrounds on other speakers crumbling apart as they got older. Sure enough, upon opening the subwoofer panel both woofer surrounds were dried up and cracked. My guess is they had been this way for years and the sound degradation was too subtle to notice. At first, I considered just replacing the foam surrounds using a rebuild kit but I didn't think that the original speakers were of such high quality that this would be worth it. So, I started looking for a durable, 6.5-inch replacement woofer with similar specs to the original equipment. Since the old speakers had minimal markings, I did some research online about how best to select subwoofer speakers. I quickly educated myself about speaker power rating, natural frequency, and Q-factors. There is also good data out there to help you select replacement speakers considering factors such as whether or not your subwoofer is enclosed or ported. After considering various options, I determined that the GRS 6PR-8 was the right replacement since it met the power handling spec, cross-over characteristics, and enclosure design plus they also have a poly-cone and rubber surround. Rubber surrounds are considered to be more resistant to age than foam. Installation was easy and I couldn't be more pleased with this do-it-yourself project. My sound system is like new again. Great product and lots of choices from the vendor, Parts Express.

Puts us in music dreamland. Beautiful.
This is a replacement subwoofer for my Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speaker system that is connected to my desktop computer. I find that this replacement model is superior to the original Klipsch subwoofer that came with the 3-way system. It is very resonant, and handles all the sub-bass notes with ease. This subwoofer adds a whole new dimension to all of my online music. I'm glad to have it.

Good, but not great. 8 out of a 10.
Just got this today and put it into my older Klipsch 2.1 THX computer speaker system. My OEM sub speaker finally blew apart after 12 years the other day. :( Anyway, I wanted to give my feedback while it is fresh in my mind. ~First, it doesn't come with any foam to mount the speaker on, nor does the original speaker mesh protector fit this one, as it's frame diameter is just a bit smaller. I put 1/4" think, 1/2" wide window sealer foam around the base of the speaker before mounting and it worked great to keep it from rattling. It does bolt up directly without any modifications to the speaker or box. The negative tab will need to be narrowed so the cable end will slide on. I just used some scissors and carefully trimmed the tab. It's very thin metal. Finally, it's not as good as the OEM Klipsch speaker. It doesn't have near the clarity on songs with heavy bass. It will 'garble' some with moderate volume in those situations. However, that said, for the price point, it will do the job for most people, but music aficionados will definitely want to look elsewhere. :) Then again, most of you wouldn't have this older Klipsch system if you're an aficionado, so there is that. :) I'd buy it again.

Great replacement
I was jamming and in the other room with my Klipsch 2.1 speaker system playing. A distorted song came on and I blew the woofer. Klipsch actually suggested this as an alternative. The price was right too.

Bad sound, sounds horrible
Bought this speaker to replace a blown speaker in my Klisph system. This speaker is horrible, pops and cracks at the slightest bass being played and I’m not a fan of bass in music. Installed and immediately removed it after 1 song.

Great replacement speaker
Worked great as a replacement driver in one of my monoprice bookshelf speakers that was blown.

If your Klipsch 2.1 Promedia 6.5" sub's foam broke - this is a great replacement for the cost!
Klipsch discontinued their Promedia 2.1 set years ago and seems like now in 2020 that 6.5" woofer replacement is not available -not even on eBay at the time I was looking. Common speaker problem -especially in Florida, the foam excursions dry up and crumble away after years of use leaving 2 options; replace the foam excursions OR replace the whole speaker. I bought the "DIY" foam replacement kit for $25 first (on Amazon). Lots of great reviews on this - personally I thought my work was perfect until I powered it up and played some music -and it farted to no end (no good). So that was a $25 waste. Some people have a real knack for this - I guess I'm not one of those people. Instructions were not clear (generic instructions - not specific to this speaker) and as perfectly as I tried to glue in this excursion the speaker didn't come out right. So I bought this little $10 replacement. For $10 it is really great! But it's not as good as the original Klipsch when it worked. That Klipsch ProMedia 2.0 6.5" sub is a 6ohm speaker. This is an 8 ohm speaker. It has some punch with the right music, equilization and volume - but not nearly as good as the original Klipsch (not correctly matched to the internal amp built into this subwoofer assembly. But for $10 it's good enough. If you are a hard core audiophile you're going to have your computer running through a higher end speaker system anyway. But for a quick dedicated media set (2 speakers and a sub) this was pretty great -sad Klipsch doesn't sell it any more. When your sub's excursion foam breaks up -this is worth $10. I might send my original to a speaker repair shop for them to re-foam - expect that might be $35-$50. I can use this one in the mean time and it's not bad.
