Kohler 1060514 Handle Insert

This Kohler 1060514 Handle Insert is just what we needed. Very well engineered. It’s a hard plastic unit that helps keep the shower handle attached to the valve. Works great, now do not need to purchase a new shower faucet. That said, this part saved me from having to replace the entire handle. It may or may not work for your exact unit so watch your product numbers. It was all I needed to fix my shower handle. Well worth the money easy fix. My shower handle was just spinning. The original piece was flimsy and broken in 2 spots. This one fit perfectly and is solid. It solved the problem and only took a minute to install.

Very well engineered. It’s a hard plastic unit that helps keep the shower handle attached to the valve. Pretty simple to install despite the lack of installation and safety instructions. I love this thing so much that I decided to keep it even though the new shower handle and valve came with its own unit. The other one might wear out in a few years and now I have a backup. Score!

Wonder why that Kohler shower handle is spinning and the water flow won't stop? It's this little plastic piece (workmanship these days) that has worn out over time. One you remove the handle's little hex screw (tip: close the tub drain or put something over it in case you drop the little hex screw and it goes down the drain. Then you are screwed!) you will find that the handle fits over the square plastic part that in turn is attached to a round brass gear wheel that turns the water on and off. Remove it and you will see the plastic is simply worn down and replace it with the new part. Align the handle with the handle insert, retighten the handle back on and you are good to go. Way cheaper than a plumber for sure $2.00 vs over a $100 just for them to show up and tell you don't carry the part and will have to come back. By the way Lowes or Home Depot don't carry this part. There are several models but if you remove the handle you will know if this is the part you need. Good luck!

I had to replace this handle insert for my shower handle but my local hardware stores including Home Depot and Menard's did not carry the part. It's listed on Kohler's site as a $1 part, but I ended up paying $4.99 with free prime shipping from Amazon which is fine since I saved time looking for a local store that carries it. I don't see any reason not to get this if you need it as it is a replacement part.

The old part disintegrated. But a quick google search brought up a repair and this part. For less than $2, the shower is fixed and works perfectly. If your handle spins, there a good chance this part is broken. ADVICE - Put the drain stop in before unscrewing the hex screw that is holding the handle on (which only needs to be unscrewed enough remove the handle).

I have searched this replacement for long time and everywhere, including the original producer kohler’s website, eBay, and Lowe’s and Home Depot, using different names. Nowhere i can find this little piece b/c this kind of faucet is out of production. After in store visits of Lowe’s and Home Depot I was so desperate but I know the exact name from there is handle adapter. I tried again using Google search and I found it here on Amazon finally. What a surprise!!! I ordered it w/o hesitate and it is the perfect fit!!! It is less than $1.5 including prime delivery on the second day! It’s kohler genuine product! For those who complain it is too expensive, what do you expect? I will order a few more for backup. I’m sure once this little piece is out here you need to replace the whole faucet next time with professional plumber that would costs you at least like $500.

Received this product Feb of 2022. Had to reorder Dec 29, 2022. Terrible quality, didn't even last 12 months.

This is too expensive. Don't be fooled by the picture. I thought it includes handle. But just plastic insert. I would've purchased k-79404 kit. It's just 1/5 cost.

Delivered as expected. Came in an OEM package. Got and works good.

For the fit I will give it five stars but very expensive for just one small plastic insert.
