What material is this? is it borosilicate glass as stated, or a bpa-free plastic? glass cannot contain bpa, only thermoplastic polymers do...

The main container is glass and it has a silicone (or something that feels like silicone) outer layer that prevents slipping or sliding off a table.

Why is this one container $30???

The container is thick glass and has a silicone coating so it doesn’t slide. The lid screws on and seals tight to keep food fresh and prevent leaking. Because it is glass it is microwave, dishwasher safe and is sustainable and will endure much use unlike plastic containers.

Question: do you keep the silicone liner in the lid? One came out when opening the lid the first time, the other did not. Discard or keep it?
