Review: Fantastic! - Fantastic! My husband & I purchased this for our nephew's fourth birthday. Arrived in perfect condition today, and we couldn't stop laughing as we read it. So much fun. The story follows the format of the traditional Gingerbread Man tale, but with a very well-executed ninja theme. Tons of action, and it has perfect rhythm, rhyme, and repetition--the words flow so well. We especially liked the "warning gong" and the "cloud of sugar dust" details. The ending is very well-done, too. Loved the illustrations. Lots of humorous details, like the mouse slicing a block of cheese with his sword. The "KA-POW!" page spread is great, too. Even the illustrated inside covers are awesome--it shows a dark, winding path with the characters on it. The last page includes a recipe for baking ninjabread cookies and a helpful glossary of words used in the book ("sensei", "gong", etc.) Paired with the ninjabread men cookie cutters, this makes a great gift for any little kid who loves fun, silly, laugh-out-loud books. It's probably more geared toward boys, but another nice detail is that the snake is a girl. Review: Great and fun book for kids - I'm a speech-language pathologist, and all my male clients LOVE this book and many of the female clients too! Great repetitive book with a lot of opportunities for language and vocabulary development.

Obsessed 5 year old.
My sons kindergarten teacher read this to them in class one day and he was hooked. He even asked to use his own money to purchase it. We read it almost every night. Cute twist to the classic gingerbread man story, especially if your child is into karate or ninjas.

Good book
One of the few ninja books I don't mind reading with my 5 year old. Several repeated words and phrases, making it great for learning readers to read with a grown up.
