25" Meat Saw

The girl of my dreams and woman of my life bought a 2"+ thick slap of FROZEN pot roast, in a plastic bag with gravy, from a truck based food source that has great food. So here we were with a big chunk of frozen meat that would last we two mid-seventies kids for at least 3 meals. REQUIREMENT: CUT IT INTO 3 MEAL SIZED PIECES WITHOUT THAWING IT, to save and use it for 3 separate future meals. Thanks heavens that the LEM 640 16" Meat Saw With Tightening Cam is such high quality and rugged and strong, that it saved us. I held the meat hunk on a wood cutting board with one hand, while I push sawed through the ice berg of meat, with the saw blade reversed, with the other hand. OK I admit I used a heavy hand sledge with a chisel to crack the last 3/4" of the meat berg apart. But it was the overall strength and quality of the LEM Meat Saw that allowed me to do it.

Fantastic saw. Have used on many beef, lamb, deer, and pork carcasses. Very clean cuts. Sharp blade, good handle, durable.

After Dry aging whole short loins this does a great job cutting through the bones when portioning for steaks. It's a little big, but the weight help gets through the bone faster. Pretty easy to use and clean.

Bought to help break down 2 pigs. Worked well for us. Produced far fewer bone fragments than the previous purchase mistake of large-tooth reciprocating saw blades. Has some weight to it and is quite large. Good for breaking large pieces, but unwieldy if trying to use for smaller work. That's a process problem and not a tool problem, though. Need a smaller saw for smaller pieces. Would occasionally bind or flex, but that's more a usage issue than tool limitation. Worth the money to us considering the time and effort it saved and the cleaner end product it allowed us to produce.

I have a game processing kit that I use when processing small livestock it came with a saw that is most likely a wood saw they put in the kit so it would be complete. I had tried to process a goat with it but it was impossible. This time around I had this saw I'm calling quicksilver. I cut that whole goat in half in no time at all. This is a good quality bone saw.

A must have tool for processing your own beef, pork, venison at home. Strong sturdy, does it’s intended job well. Also handy to use to cut a chunk off a larger piece of frozen meat or cut a big whole bone in ham in half to fit in your pan! Bought one for our own home use and then my Dad was over helping with a deer and wanted one of his own. Worth it.

The handle placement on this saw should prove much more durable over time than the side mounted handle on the Weston. I've used the saw a few times and liked the ergonomics, sturdiness, blade sharpness, and easy blade removal for cleaning. The blade is not stainless steel. It would rust if not dried after cleaning and lightly coated with a protective food-grade oil (I use mineral oil) or silicone spray.

Blade comes inverted for safety which forced me to check how the mechanism works before use. Perfect, so easy to remove the blade and this is a huge saw so it was easy to cut the marrow bones. Really sturdy handsaw, highly recommend.

I'm not very big and we do pigs. I love this saw. It has made my life so much easier.
