I needed a soldering kit to fix a metal clasp on a bag charm and am a total beginner! So this price point was perfect and I had zero expectations for this item. Keep in mind I’ve never soldered before so if you are looking for a quality product this probably isn’t for you. I was able to fix my item but even I can tell this is not a great kit and it also didn’t come with instructions (keep in mind I have never used one before so that would have been helpful ha!) I also was unsure if it got hot enough but it seemed to handle my task okay … just took awhile! I doubt I will ever use it again but if you are like me and need something cheap and easy and don’t really care if it works well, then this is your product lol!! It did the job I needed!

Do not hesitate buying this soldering kit , I needed a compact kit to stick in my luggage for my trip . Even though I'm on vacation I'm also finishing my mini monitors for my desktop audio system.

I’m not experienced in soldering so maybe I was doing it wrong, but I just couldn’t get it to work. From the tutorials I saw online, flux should be a sticky fluid substance but this comes with solid rosin that hardens quickly after melting. Soldering wire it comes with is very thin and they don’t give you much. The iron itself feels a bit flimsy, kinda toy-like. But it did heat up well.

My trusty Radio Shack soldering station is just too large to do this radio kit. This little iron featured a .2 mm tip and was ten bucks so it was ordered before reviewing. Arriving on time, it was quickly put to work and it is PERFECT for tiny through-hole electronic parts among tiny-er surface mounted parts! Heats quikly and seems hotter than the thermo dial says but plenty hot for good solder joints. I WILL follow up with either good or bad report after this project is complete. Right now, if it keeps working I will keep using it. Update: Bought in July 2023 and failed May 2025. Nearly two years of flawless performance. I do not know which quit, either the heat element or the solid state control but its heat diminished to unusable. The exact replacement is even less money so will be finishing the exact same design of radio soon!

Watched countless videos and replicated their processes, but this iron still seems to suck. Ive done everything possible but the solder wire never sticks to the pen point, and i either get a 5% of the solder being melted in a sharp shape, with a 95% that ill have the solder tip on the metal and sit it their on the metal for 30 seconds or more and it doesnt melt the metal, while also making my arduino board burn super hot. Ive cleaned the tip, used the flux, tried different tips, nothing about this thing works. Ive tried for the past couple hours and refuse to believe its user error after all the research ive done. Yes ive tinned the wire, wiped the point clean, tinned the board, used flux, yet somehow the metal just doesnt liquify. Ive messed with all the settings, this one is not worth the time or money, and its price makes it not even worth trying to ship it to get a refund
