40V Lithium-ION Rapid Charger

When the batteries on my 4-year old Ryobi lawn mower wouldn't charge, I thought it was the battery. But the lights on the charger wouldn't even come on. Oh great, I thought, probably going to be $150 to replace the charger like some other appliances. But no! It was worth buying a new charger to maybe get another 2 years out of these batteries. It looked a little different, but the mating portion was identical so I gave it a try. Works perfect. Charged up in a reasonable time. I'm not sure if this was a factor, but I left the old one plugged in for 3 weeks while I was out of town. It was 'very hot' when I tried to charge after mowing and no lights, nothing. So on this one I'll unplug it from the wall inbetween uses. This one may not be prone to dying if left plugged in for weeks or months, but why risk it? Not a big deal to plug in only a few hours per week after mowing.

Quality, function, speed and style!!! I like it!!!! I feel this rapid charger even puts a better and fuller charge into my battery than my original slower RYOBI charger I have, the unit that came with my chainsaw. I know!?!?! I know!?!?! That does not made any sense but that’s what I feel, I mean it is a lot cooler here now in AZ. so that could be a thing to? “Well, I’ll tell you what”!!!! This thing Definitely charges faster!!!! By faster, I mean fast!!!! In fact, I’m holding off on buying another battery now that I have this charger. I was going to buy a back up battery and this charger at the same time, but now that I have this rapid charger, I don’t feel that I need another battery (I am still going to get another battery one day) right now!!! I mean you can recharge a drained battery by the time you are finished with your pee break, OK, OK, a lunch break. “Come on now”!!! Those that even mention the sound of the fan!?!?! It’s a fan!!! A fan cools things, cool things last longer and charge faster, specially when it comes to electrical things. Maybe it’s just me!?!?! I like the sound the charger makes and I actually wish it were louder!! I mean, I’m not sleeping with it and to me, the sound of cooling fans, coming from an electrical device means it working right!!!!

Works good for 40 volt batteries. Don't leave plugged in all the time. I think that killed my old one. Its on a power strip now.

The tiny charger that came with my Ryobi 40V trimmer takes maybe 3+ hours to charge my 40V 4ah battery. I also use my trimmer with an edger and hedge trimmer tool occasionally. So many times I was so close to being done and the battery dies. There is no poping it on the dinky charger for a few minutes to 'quickly' get enough partial charge to finish. I lose my momentum and I'm done for that trimming session. $150 is a chunk for another 40V Ryobi battery when I don't have any other Ryobi 40V tools and all I need is a few more minutes 'sometimes'. This Ryobi trimmer was just going to be temporary for some quiet use. I already have a small fortune tied up in other tool brands and have no use for any more Ryobi 40V lawn or other tools so really I don't want to invest any more than necessary. I was shocked to see home depot sell this Ryobi rapid charger for about $129 and a quick charger for $99! Ok then, aftermarket I go. After reading so many bad reviews about aftermarket Ryobi 40V batteries and chargers without the fan, many failing in a just few months after purchase, always with no recourse, I took a chance and snagged this genuine Ryobi charger "Used-good condition" for about $17. I did not care if it looked perfect all when I wanted was a occasional few extra minutes of run time. Well it came looking brand new, not a mark on it and 3 times it has charged my 4ah battery to full charge in 35-40 minutes! Best money I've spent in a while. I can put it on this charger and in 15 minutes, while I'm doing another task it's ready to finish the job. It would have been worth it paying full price of about $49 as well.

Very close in charging performance compared to the rapid charger that came with our Ryobi lawn mower. The price is definitely better.

Though it does work, it is much smaller and slower than the one that came with the batteries in the first place. Charging takes longer.
