Precision Record Level Turntable Stylus Tracking Force Pressure Gauge/Scale 100g, 0.005g Resolution (Silver)

Recently purchased a new turntable and was in need of a new stylus scale to get proper cartridge setup. I did purchase another scale that I had had many years ago - some $12 plastic scale produced in China. The same scale is listed at least under 15 different names on Amazon! Anyways, I received it and returned it immediately as it appeared used! So, I took a deeper dive into scales and found this gem. I investigated on the web about this scale and it is designed and built in the USA and has many positive reviews. When I received it, I set it up and could not believe the accuracy! A bit more expensive but well worth it. Highly recommended.

Tested against a set of scientific student weights .. very accurate. Love that the extension replicates the thickness of a record on the TT for perfect VTF measurements. Cons …. Really only one. Installing the extension is a bit of a clumsy process and it must be removed for storage and then reinstalled when you use the scale again.

Hear this. It arrived in England in very good time (thank you),and very well packaged. I sat down with it and began to unwrap it, and light started to emanate from the wrappings. I reached the good quality, secure, well designed cardboard box, slit the (two) security seals and opened the box. The emanating light increased. I removed the bubble wrapped contents, took off the bubble wrap, and the emanating light increased further. Thence to the cellophane-wrapped tin. I removed that cellophane to a modest increase in the light intensity. Allow me to talk about the tin for a moment. It isn't any old tin No sirreee. This tin is a fine looking tin in brushed stainless steel with the Riverstone logo printed discretely on the lid and it opens with a pleasing little swish sound owing to its perfectly engineered tolerances. Good golly miss Molly - I aint never seen a tin this good in my whole life. I opened the tin and the illuminance intensified further still. Under the lid was a neat, well laid out, folded instruction booklet, very well articulated, covering every detail one needs to know, with plenty of clear photos A tour-de-force of an instruction manual. More light shone out of it. Along with that were two small cards, business card size, finely printed on nice gauge paper. One is a customer service and warranty card and carries a reminder to "please keep this card". The other is a short list of guidelines aimed at further improving the accuracy of the gauge in use and this card carries the heading "Thank you for purchasing Riverstone Audio's VTF Gauge". At this point I am saying "No, no - Thank you for selling this to me". Believe me, light shone off these little things. Under the cards was a layer of light, black foam. no light came off that because it absorbed the light. Lifting the foam revealed a little, neat, black, stitched leatherette pouch for the gauge and beneath that was a dense foam block, with cutouts, fitted perfectly in the bottom of the tin. Four cutouts precisely, one for the gauge, one for an extension arm and one for each of the two shiny, sculptural precision weights (5gm and 20gm) which fit as snugly as if they are in winter hibernation. The extension arm has a small sliding knob which, of necessity and thus by design, wobbles ever so slightly and Riverstone have equipped this knob with its own bit of foam to stabilise it within the tin. And so to the gauge and yes, when everything else about the parcel has such an exquisite design sensibility behind it, so too has the gauge itself - even down to the centre measuring platform cover in light grey plastic which also incorporates the Riverstone logo. A beautifully balanced - no pun intended - machine both visually and practically. Turn it upside down and there at each corner is a little Groucho Marx eyebrow shaped felt pad to stabilise the machine on your turntable while protecting the TT surface against scratches. The light coming off the gauge had a radiance that could only have been seen previously by biblical personalities who received angelic visitations or, even worse, the descent of the divinity him or herself on some mountain around the eastern end of the Mediterranean. Good people this thing doesn't sing, dance or recite poetry. But then Riverstone don't claim that this beautiful little baby does any of those things. Any downsides? Yes I am now registered blind because of exposure to such intensity of light, and if I thought I could legally prove Riverstone's intent to do that I would sue, but I know that I can't prove it. O.K. I'm hyperbolic, but that reflects the quality of the gauge, its paraphernalia, container and even its parcelling. My wife too is impressed at the obvious quality of this creation (she wants the box and the tin). I bought it because of the rave reviews it receives. Here is one more to add to the rave review collection. This gauge is far too good to actually use so now I have to buy another one to adjust my VTF, once I decide which cartridge to get. In the meantime, and in the absence of analogue music I just turn my head in the direction of this perfect little gauge and revel in the radiant warm light it emits. Wow.. este producto viene empacado y presentado con una calidad excepcional muy por encima de lo esperado para el costo del producto, sobretodo considerando la gran diferencia que hay en calidad entre esta bascula y las otras basculas más pequeñas y económicas que son practicamente desechables. Compre esta bascula para sustituír una de las económicas que solo pude utilizar 2 veces porque simplemente dejo de funcionar, y debo decir que estoy sorprendido con la calidad del producto, y el cuidado con el que todo viene acomodado y empacado. Con esta bascula podre medir con mayor precisión la carga de mis cartuchos para lograr el mejor sonido posible en mi tornamesa.
