I fill the bottom with water and freeze it; it helps the insert fit better than with ice cubes and keeps food cold.

Absolutely outstanding iced serving tray! I needed a cheese tray large enough to bring to an event with 30 people. This is perfect. Large enough for a big group, yet not so big that it would awkward in a smaller setting. If the group is smaller, I could put crackers on one side with cheese and meats in the other side. It's large side also makes it great for the ice cubes down below...I can place enough ice to last for 4 or more hours in an indoor event (out of the sun).
