Would you need a KVM switch in order to use one mouse & keyboard on the 4 inputs when they are coming from 4 different sources?

I know it's an old thread, however for anyone who sees this for the first time, Instead of a KVM, check out Microsoft mouse without borders.    it will allow you to control 6 computers with a single mouse and keyboard,and it free.  Thank you Microsoft Garage.

Is this monitor good for 4k gaming?

While it can be used for gaming, please note it doesn't have a low refresh rate (in terms of gaming monitors).  And as others have noted, there is a high amount of input lag.  So keep that in mind.

Can it be used for gaming?  Yes.  Is it recommended?  No, kind of a poor monitor choice for gaming.  You'd do better spending the money on this monitor for a 1440p 144hz+ Gaming monitor or even picking up the ASUS 28" 4k 60hz G-Sync monitor.

How does this monitor compare with philips bdm4350uc 43-inch class ips-led monitor? Is one better than the other?

The multiple picture-in-picture stuff is a little tricky. The Phillips joystick control the back is a real PITA. It is very hard to reach unless you have a swivel mount but fairly straightforward once you get the feel and the timing.I've never used the multiple inputs with the Dell but just the Phillips.I used to have a set up with four 30 inch monitors and there is actually slightly more real estate with two 43 inch monitors. I do systems integration design work and I'll have multiple large-scale Visios and requirements documents open at the same time as reference while I complete my design.Since I use ceiling mounts for my monitors, I kept two of the 30 inch screens on either side.For development I don't think there would be too much difference between the two monitors but you would need to specifically look at what combination of inputs you are planning on using at the same time. Amazon reviews on each monitor discuss input combinations for picture-in-picture. For the Phillips I've used two DisplayPort and two HDMI inputs

Will it support acting as just one monitor instead of 4 (i.e. using one input to drive the entire monitor)?

yes that is how I use it.HDMI was at 30HZ an excellent picture qualityWith Display Port 1.2 at 60 HZ and the image settings tweaked, the picture is just as sharp or slightly sharper as either the HP or Dell 30 Inch monitors on either side. I use this for systems design and not media
