What's the difference between 885 and 685 models?

685 and 785 has panarello steam wand (for easy milk frothing) whereas 885 (dedica arte) has Rancilio Silivia steam wand (for better milk frothing. 885 requires more expertise to froth the milk though.

Ec 885m arrived last week. difficulty in how much to grind, and still. how do i get filter basket/handle go on all the way? it's too difficult.

It took me awhile. I use the double coffe insert Fill in the coffee about 3/4 of the way. Make sure it snaps in. Start on the left side and slide it to the right. It’s very hard. I have to hold the machine and try with the other to move it to the right. I hope this helps. It’s really not made well.

is there a way to just heat the milk with minimal froth in this machine?

Sadly no, I'm afraid to say that since this machine is technically a cappuccino maker, it is meant to make more froth and foam than just steamed milk. Even though I've been a barista for quite a while now (and even had looked up some video tutorials just to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong, this machine is meant more for foaming or more frothy milk)
