Return to the wizarding world and discover how director David Yates and producer David Heyman brought J.K. Rowlingโs all new adventure, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them to the big screen. Inside the Magic: The Making of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them introduces filmmaking fans to Newt Scamander, Magizoologist, and the principal characters, locations, artifacts and beasts that he encounters in 1920s New York. Explore the filmmaking magic behind MACUSA, the secretive American counterpart of the Ministry of Magic; and the magical secrets of Newtโs case. Each section contains profiles of the key characters, with revealing insights from Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Colin Farrell, and many others, together with sections on set design, costumes, make-up, special effects, art department & props (especially wands!), which are illuminated by interviews with David Heyman, David Yates, Stuart Craig, Colleen Atwood and a magical army of other crew. Packed with exciting photos that reveal the filmmaking process in discerning detail, and officially licensed by Warner Bros. Consumer Products, this is the definitive adult companion book to the film, and perfect introduction to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them . Review: A great read - As a Potterhead, I really enjoy this book. In the final Chapter it explains what 'really' is in Newt's case. I learned several facts about the movie and how much work they put into the amount of detail that 99% of the camera never shows. The dedication to making a Wizarding movie that is so real, was revealed. Review: Inside the Magic - Being a fan of the movie, I enjoyed seeing the nice photos and reading the text about how they made the movie and the special effects. Beautiful book.

Love this book!
Iโm definitely one of the biggest fans of all the HP books and movies. I love this book and how it shows how they made the characters come alive and relate!

I recommend the Kindle version of this book.
This is not an in-depth review of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. I would not purchase the hardcover version instead I would purchase the Kindle version of this book. For a thorough review purchase The Case of Beasts: Explore the Film Wizardry of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and/or Art of the Film: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. I recommend purchasing the Kindle version of Inside the Magic because it's better to use as a reference when you're on the go and there are no extras in the hardcover :(

Good, but not in-depth enough.
Pretty good overview of the production of the movie. Wish the book had been longer so it could've gone into a bit more detail about certain production departments. Due to its length, the book kind of ends up being a surface level tour through the making of the movie. More of an appetizer than a main dish, really. But still enjoyable.

Where is my magical beast?
The reason why one is unable to find magical beasts is because one does not know where to find them.

Get the other making-of book
There are two making-of books for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. One is this 144-page hardcover and the other is the 160-page hardcover 'The Case of Beasts: Explore the Film Wizardry of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them'. You can think of this book as the condensed version of 'The Case of Beasts' even though there's only a difference of 16 pages. The narrative here flows more smoothly like an actual book while 'The Case of Beasts' adopts a scrapbook-like presentation. The information within both books are quite similar so the main difference really comes down to the presentation style and narrative flow. 'Inside the Magic' talks about the film production, characters, setting up the locations, research, the story, Newt's case and a brief coverage on the creatures that appear in the movie. There's a lot of interesting things to read as all these are behind the scenes. You can find out how they recreated 1920s New York, Macusa, or learn more about the characters, and read what the actors have to say about the characters. The content, text and pictures are also beautifully laid out. As a standalone book, it's great. But when compared to 'The Case of Beasts' which is also strangely on the film production, this book lacks the depth. The other book has more content. And since there is duplication of content as both books cover the same topic, it's best to get just one, the other one. (See more pictures of the book on my blog.
