VTech KidiZoom Camera Pix, Blue (Frustration Free Packaging)

My 3 year old twins LOVE THIS toy. They received as Christmas gifts. LIKES -1 piece toy. No pieces to lose, and we can easily take it in the car, wagon, stroller, etc. so that they can take pictures of whatever we're doing. I anticipate this being really fun to take on vacation, so they can take pictures while sightseeing. -Very durable. My kids have dropped the camera, plopped it down on the table, etc. and it has survived the normal wear and tear of toddler life. We have not found a protective case necessary. -Easy for them to use as a point and shoot. At 3, they haven't grasped the extra features this camera has (collage templates, photo effects, video, selfie). They really just like to point and shoot and they can do that all on their own, which they LOVE. I think our kids will use the extra features as they get older, and so I would say the age recommendation of 3-8 years is appropriate. It also turns itself off after a few minutes without use, saving the batteries. -The camera holds about 200 pictures, and when it's full, we usually delete them and let them start over. You can easily delete all the pictures at once (in delete mode, scroll down to see "delete all files?". We have not connected the camera to the computer, and we anticipate they will become more interested in this as they get older. We get plenty of use out of it without that feature. -Pictures are decent quality. They can be blurry when taken by a quickly moving toddler, but they are still good enough that the kids can tell what they are and they're happy with them. I think for the price point its great. I attached some pictures of houseplants to show the quality. -Overall, I am amazed that you can get a camera this great at this price point. I will definitely buy it again for gifts. NO DISLIKES! No complaints.

Got this as a big-brother gift for my 3 1/2 yr-old son when our second child was born. When I ordered this camera, the older version was still available but marked as discontinued and this one had no reviews. The old model had great reviews, so I figured going with the new one was a safe bet. My son really enjoys the camera and used it heavily when he first opened it. So the batteries ran out quickly, but I hope as his use levels out then the battery use won't be quite so heavy. He takes pictures of all kinds of things, often moving the camera before the picture is done resulting in blurs or dark pictures. Anyway, he still enjoys it. He especially enjoys watching the video he and daddy took when they were playing together. My impressions: -Batteries are in the handles, which is an efficient use of space and easy to access with a fingernail (no screws). The battery doors open from the side of the handles (not from the bottom like the old model). -Contrary to the Amazon description, my camera did NOT include the 4 AA batteries. -On startup you set language, date, and time. -The buttons and menus are intuitive and the camera is very easy to use. A couple times pushing buttons the press didn't register. -I noticed they moved the "take picture" button to the front compared to the old model that had it on top. The location feels natural when taking pictures. -When taking a picture, you can use the dual-eye view finder or the screen. -After taking a picture, it shows briefly on screen then goes away. You'd go to the playback option in the menu to see it again. -When editing a photo, the original photo is preserved and your edited version is a new, separate photo. -The picture quality is on the lower end and there's no flash, but I think the point is this is a real camera that a little kid can use and is their very own. I think that is plenty cool. If your child is a bit older and taking an interest in photography, then get an inexpensive adult digital camera instead of this one. -The outside is rubbery and seems durable so far. -There's a strap included that you can attach to the camera. -The camera will automatically turn off after a few minutes of being idle. -There are sounds when navigating around the menus, including a cute "spring" sound when the camera can't do what you're asking. When you take a picture, there's a "camera" sound. I turned the volume down a bit because I thought the default was a little loud. -No USB cable is included, but it's supposed to be a standard micro USB which we have plenty of already.

I held off writing the review for this camera because I wanted to see how it lasted since some of the reviews mentiined it didnt last long. Well the one I ordered for my son was given to him in October (I am writing this in March). He had dropped it countless times... Some of those were pretty hard falls where the battery compartment would pop open and the batteries would fly out.... This happened the very first day and several time since then. No biggy, as that is expected with a childrens toy. It has not stopped working! I just put the batteries back in and he keeps going! Sure the pictures arent high quality but it plainly states the megapixle so I didnt expect much... He doesnt care about picture quality... He's 3. He has fun with it anyway and takes lots of pictures and enjoys looking at his "work" whic basically consists of his toys or my nose or the dog's butt as she runs away. When he isnt taking pictures he is playing the games on it. I would recommend this camera for any child. Especially if you, like me, take a lot of pictures with a dslr or even a phone. Monkey see, monkey do and he is not allowed to touch my dslr camera. This gives him a camera to use while I use mine! I couldnt be more please with this purchase!

Bought this camera for my 3 year old niece as a Christmas gift and she absolutely loves it. It's her favorite Christmas toy and she takes it with her everywhere she goes! It's simple and easy for her to use. Love the grip on the sides, and the sound effect when she takes a picture. The photo quality is not all that great, especially in dimmed lighted areas but that goes for any device, and honestly you can't expect that from a toy meant for toddlers. Takes really great photos outdoors or where there's sufficient light. My niece doesn't seem to notice the difference in quality from the camera and her mom's phone, she just loves having her own camera to use anytime anywhere and her mom definitely enjoys not having to share her phone anymore lol the filters and games are cute and simple, definitely appropriate for the age is being targeted to. For those with techie kids, the games will probably not be very entertaining at all, but in my case, they hit the the target. overall it's definitely a great item. It's sturdy, it's holding up well, and it's been dropped many times since its been opened. The only reason I deduct one star is because it was missing the strap that's supposed to come included. Would of been useful, but not necessary.

My son is 3 and absolutely loves this camera! We've had so much fun, exploring our neighborhood and parks, and taking loads of pictures. It's been heartwarming to see his unique perspective. I made the mistake of showing him how to delete pictures (too dark or blurry ones are what I intended) because now he wants to delete "bad" ones and my mama heart just wants to see everything he takes a picture of, whether it's blurry or not. That being said, the controls are incredibly easy to use! The strap stays on his little arm easily so the risk of dropping it is much lower. The simple games are a fun added bonus when he wants to play with it but we're in the car. It's a very simple process to move the pics from the camera to the computer. I'd say the camera with a memory card gets about 100 pictures on it before running out of space. Highly recommend for younger kids!!

I got this for my son's 3rd birthday and my only complaint is that he loves it too much and doesn't want to put it down! All joking aside, its a really nice little camera for the target age range. No, the picture quality isn't anything to brag about, but I just wanted something my son could take pictures with and with the added game features and frame options, it was more than what I was hoping for. Some have complained about the games not being educational, and while I think that's true, its not a negative for me because I have plenty of educational apps/books/etc. for my son and didn't need this camera to fulfill that. I'm ok with some things he plays with just being silly. My son is enthralled with it because it seems like something he's not supposed to touch (like Mommy's camera) but it's his. He also is amazed that he can take pictures of things he points at with the camera and that he can go back and look at them later. He has seen me do it with my phone and camera, but this is the first time he's been able to do it himself. I also want to mention the durability of this camera. My son has already dropped it many times and its still working perfect. I also wanted to mention it doesn't come with a USB cable, but that's also not a negative for me, because they are easy to obtain and my son isn't really old enough to use it.

This camera has served my first born, my second born, my third born who lost the caps for the batteries on both sides, and will likely serve my 7 month old daughter when shes old enough. It's a fun little camera. Highly recommend. Perfect for kids

I got this camera for my 5 year old for Christmas and it has been a huge hit! With very little instruction, he's figured it out almost completely on his own. It's really easy to figure out and to work. It can do photo and video, plus there are games and little filters and stickers and various ways to edit the photos themselves! Plus there's a slot for a micro SD card so you can save them if you'd like! My son doesn't have access to a tablet or any other gaming device, so I was fine with the four little games this camera has on it. They're simple enough for a 5 year old and they're educational! He has spent most of his time taking pictures of our dog! If you have a young child that is interested in taking pictures, I'd recommend this camera! I can't really comment on battery life at this time as we've only been using it for about a day so far, but everything else about it I'm really impressed with!
