Yes, but you can use tea to tone it down. I do this all of the time and it works great. I actually put a tea bag into the hot water for about 5 seconds and then put the fitting beads in the water to melt.

can I use them for a gap on my 2 front teeth?

I have been using them for a chip on the inside of my front bottom 2 teeth. The chip was driving me crazy. Until I can afford to get it fixed, I will continue using these...they are miracle!!!

Can this be used to fill a gap in between teeth??

Yes they can. I have been using for about 1 month now until I can afford to get the chip/gap fixed. I use 2 or 3 of the little balls each application. Each application lasts between 1 week and 10 days.
