Kaytee Pro-Nail Trimmer Purple

I have three ferrets and four cats. Two dogs as well (but they're much too big for these clippers). I originally purchased these clippers for my ferrets. My younger two keep their nails relatively short with their constant digging and frolicking, but my older girl often needs her nails trimmed for her (as she spends a majority of her days resting rather than playing). I'm always scared of nicking my poor furry-children's blood line in their nails. It's painful, it's bloody, and it's no fun for anyone. Human nail clippers don't allow me to fit the curve of the claw, nor do they allow a good visual of the claw. That's why I decided to try pet clippers. I like these so much better than baby human nail clippers. They are shaped like scissors, which allows them to easily fit into my average female hands. They have grips on the inside which keep them from slipping. The clippers themselves are very sharp and leave a nice straight cut across the nail. I can clip my ferret's front nails in under 5 minutes with these trimmers. I've never hit a bloodline (knock on wood)- nor have the nails ever cracked from the pressure. These are so easy to use- it's like cutting butter. I also have an older female cat who has trouble keeping her nails filed by herself. So eventually she needs a clipping- so her poor little feet don't stick on the carpet as she walks. She hates having her nails cut, and human nail clippers were never easy to use with a squirming feline. On the other hand, these clippers work great. They fit to the curvature of her nail so I can latch onto a claw, find the right length, and clip quickly, painlessly, and easily. So far the only two animals I've tried these clippers on are cats and ferrets, but I'm sure they would work well for all small pets including guinea pigs and rabbits. They are very easy to use and leave a nice smooth cut. One of the best hygienic accessories I've purchased for my pets!

I originally bought these for my green cheek conures, but they’ve ended up being great for cats and rabbits as well. They’re easy to use, feel controlled, and get the job done cleanly without splitting nails. I’ve had them for over three years now and they’ve held up really well with consistent use. Work great, I got them to cut my ferrets' nails. Cuts super clean and easily, handles are a very firm rubber type material, so it doesnt bend easily, but is still soft and flexible, so theyre more comfortable to hold than clippers with a hard plastic handle

I have three rats, one of whom has back nails that grow like crazy. I knew I had to trim them (first time ever cutting an animal's nails) and I was terrified. I ordered the Zen nail clippers that adjust and prevent from cutting into the quick but they were so thick I couldn't even his nail through it without basically putting his whole toe in. I knew I needed the open blade scissor type to be able to get his little bitty, albeit long, nails. I returned the Zen and got this one (at 1/4 the price of the one I returned!) and got it within two days. I'm so happy to report that I was able to clip all three of the longest nails with no incident and that was enough adventure for both of us tonight. He got a treat and comfort and I got confidence and satisfaction. I'm an adult and can get just to the first knuckle on my thumb into the scissors, would like to have a larger hole for some better control and maneuverability, but it was doable. They are a little stiff to open and close, I just lubricated the little pivot area with some olive oil and opened and closed a few times and wiped it off and it helped loosen it up. I watched a video that said to really lightly clamp down on the nail first to make sure there's no reaction from the rat, then open it a little and just quickly snip. If the rat didn't react the first time, you're not on a nerve. Doing the quick snip really helped and I don't know if it would be possible without lubricating them. I was nervous the first nail and went slower than I should have and it was definitely more noticeable for my rat than when I just did a quick snip through the nail. My rat did smell the olive oil and tried eating the scissors and managed to get a nibble from the handles...so they won't stand up to rodent jaws but not much does. For the cheap price and small size, with good care these should be able to last awhile. Will have to see how the sharpness holds up. Sorry for the long review, but I'm really happy I was able to do this for my dude by myself. If you're debating between this or the safety type for a small animal, get this! Absolutely great for small animal nails.

these work great, they are much tighter than others I have purchased which makes me feel a lot more comfortable using them for my budgerigars. they have already lasted me a year and don’t feel any different to me, quite happy with them and would recommend for precise small animal nail trims!

Purchased these so I could trim my rabbit's nails. My rabbit hates me, so I was not able to get to all of her nails, but the ones I did trim were trimmed with no sign of discomfort from her. Trimmer is small, like a pair of baby scissors, but an adult can hold them easily - the trick is if you can also hold your pet easily at the same time! Price was cheaper than at at the pet store. Quality is decent, you get what you pay for, these aren't surgical tools, so expect them to trim nails, but also expect them to break if you happen to step on them while wearing a pair of boots or something. The handles are plastic so that would break them and probably bend the blades. BE CAREFUL when trimming your pet's nails - identifying and avoiding the quick is important and if you cut it IT HURTS! I'm trimming what nails I can and then taking bunny to the vet to trim the ones I can't. This is good for maintenance on a skittish pet, and may be good for all your needs to a relaxed pet, but that has nothing to do with the quality, but more with the skill and comfort zone of the owner - I don't want to hurt my bunny so light maintenance is all I needed.
