Will this work for small star bit screws on pocket knives?

I don’t think so. Try a 5 point torx bit, this is six point. I got the 5 point first not looking closely enough at the pic and needed the six point. Check the points on your knife closely and then decide. The size is another issue, the Star bit set has some very small bits. Your screws may be too small and again they may not be. Need to know the exact size of the screws.

No such thing as an 8m 5 point torx they are designated as T10 to T50

Is there a difference btwn the 5 point fittting whether the screw head has a tower (boss) in the center or if it doesn't?

These are for tamper proof with center pin they work fine if you don't have the center pin, they are a 5 point not your standard 6 point torx
