It works as advertised! The Bratty Woodpecker is gone! I can sleep late again.
Effectively banished a Red-Bellied Woodpecker from drumming every morning on our aluminum rain gutters at 6:40 AM. The pesky woodpecker "drumming" his territory on my home has been defeated. After 11 days of being awakened by the loud "rat-tat-ta"t, the pesky varmint has been banished by using this non-violent tape. I can say the tape is nicely manufactured, quite thick, and it is extremely reflective - creating flashing brilliant prism-strikes of blinding color as it waves in the wind. On windy days I discovered that I had to place a weight on the lowest end to keep the ribbon tape from ending up in the gutter. I suggest you do the same to avoid clogged rain gutters and yet still preserve the deterrent value. Leaving the weight in place does not reduce the deterrent ability on calm days. With the weights left in place it still works. Will the tape remain durable to harsh SW Florida elements? Will it become a less effective deterrent overtime? I will re-post as the answers to these questions as the results become revealed. For now this Bird Repellent Scare Tape it has been a Godsend. Hopefully the woodpecker has found some other home or tree on which to "drum" and sound out his territory. *(please note this tape is more of a ribbon. It has NO/ZERO adhesive ability. You tie it to the area you are concerned about. No one should post comments on its adhesion, although the feedback review system on Amazon requests that reviewers post a response concerning the item's adhesive properties.)

It Works!!
I bought this in hopes to stop the birds from attacking their reflections at 6 am every morning. We had one stubborn guy in particular that decided the handsome bird in the window was too much a threat to his girlfriend, and would spend hours flying at...himself I was worried heโd get hurt or worse, so I started researching different repellents. Foil in the tree, little round shiny ornaments meant to look like eyes and startle then away, even a toy snake on his favorite branch of choice. Nothing worked, and he kept exhausting himself. I bought this tape, received it the next day, and hung it up on my windows. I didnโt really know how much was just enough, so I followed the pattern of the window grids. Then I waited. He came up to the tree, started huffing and puffing, and then went for the window. And I kid you not, stopped dead in midair. He turned around, flew away as fast as his tail feathers allowed, and hasnโt been back since. Iโd call that a rapid success! Iโve left the tape up and we havenโt had any crash and burns since. Itโs stayed on the windows through rain, hail, and even a near miss with a tornado. I hung it with duct tape though, since the reflective tape itself isnโt adhesive. Thatโs my one complaint, I guess...I wish it was self adhesive. But I digress. It works, itโs durable, and itโs a simple and not overly distracting solution.

Not at all as described
I bought a very similar tape from Amazon a year ago (it had a different name), after it showed how to attach strips of the ribbon to my grandson's swingset, which the birds target mercilessly, making it unusable unless cleaned at length every time. The ribbon seemed fine at first, but over time it ripped up into small pieces and my granddaughter had to do a lot of work that shouldn't have been necessary to clean up their yard and also their neighbors' yard, which isn't even that close. That product was total crap. This year I found what looked like a different tape - the pattern on it was enough different and the name was different. And the info said it should stay in place for several years. And it was more money for a smaller roll, so I was fooled into thinking it would be better. But it is IDENTICAL to the stuff I bought from you last year - it's not even a little bit thicker or stronger. It rips easily and I'm sure will do the same thing, so we're not putting it on the swingset. So now I'm stuck with an almost complete roll from this year, plus quite a bit of the roll from last year, and am out my money. The way it is advertised to use it, it would naturally have some wind blowing, and that's all it takes to rip this stuff up. I should ask for my money back but don't have the packaging or sticker to use. NOT HAPPY!

Bird Scare Tape
The refective ability of the tape is fine, but occaisonally the tape will fray on the end or break off. This is not a big problem, because it only will happen after sustained wind over a period of a day or more, and not always. It also may be in part due to the way the tape is fastened. For example, I use it on the railing of my terrace and it has been quite effective in keeping pigeons away. Not only the reflections, which are quite good, but the random movement of the tape, IMO, helps keep the birds away. In fastening it to the railing I simply looped it around the railing and tied it, as I would tie a necktie. This gives it a bit of "stand-off' from the railing and has been secure, but it may be that this method allows the edges of the tape to contact each other in such a way that they wear faster than other methods would engender. I am experimenting wth other methods of fastening the tape and I have found that a bit of clear packing tape(like the kind you secure packages for mailing with) on the ends does help with fraying. All this not withstanding however, I must credit this vendor with an excellent and speedy response to my inquiries. They also, very generously (and unexpectedly) offered a refund for my purchase, as the product may have not lived up to all my expectations. This product DID mostly live up to my expectations and is probably the best "bird scare" tape available; IMO far superior to the one (1) mil tape that is usually marketed. Until a "SUPER-Heavy Duty" tape (of more than three (3) mils thickness) is made available in the marketplace, I will highly recommend this product. AND their superior and responsive Customer Service. I DID NOT get this as a "free sample" for reviewing it. I paid for it, like I (and most of us) do for everything else and so all my reviews are always independent and honest, regardless of being negative or positive.

Works on sunny breezy days!
I am currently using the bird tape to try and protect my blueberry bush from catbirds. On sunny breezy days it was the perfect deterrent but I can only give it 3 stars as on the cloudy, still days the catbirds had no fear and flew right into the bush and helped themselves. It is durable but I wasn't sure the best way to attach it. I duct taped sections to poles and planted them around the bush and also punched holes in sections from 6 to 24 inches long and tied them to various areas and then duct taped the knot. The wind brought some of them down. It is definitely worth the money but did not work on calm, cloudy days. I have to pick the berries before they are totally ripe to keep the birds from picking at the ripest parts of the fruit but they are still very usable for morning smoothies despite not being as ripe as I would like. It worked better than no deterrent for sure. I plan to use it again next year.

Working pretty well to deter hawks from visiting my yard.
I bought this because 3 or 4 hawks started visiting my yard. I love birds and loved watching them however, they were using my yard as a buffet. I saw one grab something in my yard and eat it. I think it was a lizard. I like having lizards and frogs in my yard because they eat bugs (I live next to a bayou and there are A LOT of bugs). I also have bird feeders out, and the little birds were afraid to eat while the hawks were around. There are also opossums that visit my yard, and a couple babies were living under my deck. I know everything has to eat, I just didn't want them eating the critters in my yard. So, I used a staple guns to attack several strips of this on the back side of my fence, since the hawks come from that direction. Also put a few on the front side, and in the yard. The next morning I heard them LOUDLY screeching. They were in a nearby tree "yelling" but they weren't on my fence or in my yard. It's been several weeks, and I've only seen one in my yard once. But, it was a cloudy day, so the "tape" was not reflecting light at that time. And there was no wind, so they weren't flapping around making noise either. So, I'd say it's working pretty well. Oddly, I've seen cardinals and squirrels on the fence next to this tape, so apparently, they aren't afraid of it.

Great stuff...better than anything else.
This is the best stuff and the ONLY thing we have found that works. We have 2 peach trees right next to each other and put this on both (probably 20-25 strips in total). We are about a week from starting to harvest and we have found only THREE peaches in total that have peck marks. This tape is quite stiff so it hangs really nicely. I cut it into 3 1/2 - 4' lengths, folded one end over about 1", punched a hole in the middle of the folded end, and tied a piece of cotton twine through the hole. We then tied the other end of the twine to the tree. This allows the tape to move and twist freely. It shimmers in the breeze. We have had some hefty winds and a few of the strips got a little stuck in the trees but we were able to untangle them with a light broom handle. Neighbors down the street have lost almost all their peaches to the birds (I guess our birds doubled up in their trees). We used about 3/4 of a roll. If our 2 trees were not close to one another and somewhat close to our porch, we would have had to use the whole roll. I anticipate that we will be able to reuse this strips again next year (maybe with new twine...we'll see) because I have seen no deterioration yet. It is sturdy stuff. Fyi...others have implied in their comments that you tie the tape itself to the tree. You can't tie the tape itself to the branch because it's too stiff. The twine works much better and allows the strips to move much more freely.

Tape?
โTapeโ infers that itโs sticky on one side. It is not.
