Is this product realistic for treating a 1/2 acre pond?

Hi C.H. This treats a lot of gallons and i am sure there would be some benefit to dispersing the whole bucking into your 1/2 acre pond, but since large ponds are not really measured in gallons, but in acres or square feet of surface area, you would get more benefit and find it to be easier to measure into your pond situation if you used one of the products that is specifically made for farm ponds, like Pond Logic (Airmax) ClearPac Plus which contain ClearPond Bags and Muck Away Pellets. Or Kasco® Macro-Zyme™ Beneficial Bacteria - Pucks or pellets. Do I need to turn off the UV light and for how long?

Thanks for your question. UV lights unfortunately can't distinguish between good bacteria and cellular algae. As such you do want to turn off the UV. Can this product be used as a replacement to cycling a tank/pond?

It depends what you mean by that ... it can be used to make cycling a pond or tank a bit quicker and lower risk but you still should load the tank in stages or groups and give time for development of the bacteria colonies.

Does this work in temperatures below 50F?

Yes, it will work below 50 degrees F. Water temperature should be a minimum of 32 degrees F.
