What size lead do i need to get for this? Mine came without lead.

Not sure how much that helps, it doesn't state the size. Pretty thick.

how do you adjust the length of the lead? I loosened the thumbscrew until the pin fell out but it still won't move. same goes with the metal pin part

Even with the tightening screws completely loose, there is still tension gripping the lead and the steel pin. After loosening the screw one has to manually pull the lead or pin in or out, and then retighten.
