Is the resin heat resistant after its cured to use on a coaster that you plan to set a hot cup of coffee on?

I haven't used it for that function. I am sorry I cannot say yes or no.

What are the dimensions of the uv light? How many watts is it?

It's not that large it's a little bit bigger than a credit card I don't know what the watts are because it's LED I'm not really sure several LED lights and it's like a little stand that goes over it USB connector

How am I supposed to use this when the light has no on/off switch? Plugged it in and nothing. No instructions either for how long to cure the resin.

It doesn't come with on off. Depending on the project the time varies. I do necklaces and bracelets and it takes anywhere from 2-10 minutes.

does the UV lamp need to be plugged in to work?

Some UV lamps are battery operated, some plug into the wall, if it has a cord, then yes you need to plug it in to work.
