F A N T A S T I C deal for a classy, good sounding toy and a cool whistle!
W O W Terrific sound! A toy of higher class and value than anything from Fisher Price or other companies off the department store shelves. And for such a small price!!! Plus, this comes with free music to play along (both in the box and online) AND an adorable bald eagle whistle on a satiny feeling necklace string. I gave the "xylophone" to my three year old, though all four teens and both adults in the family keep playing with it. The whistle I gave to my eighteen year old and he loves it. Everyone, in fact, wants one! While simple, it is very well made with quality materials and well-painted, colorful keys. It exceeded my expectations not just for price, but as a toy in general. It is fantastic and sounds great! If it was all silver instead of colorfully designed, it would pass as a portable instrument for all ages instead of as "just" a toy. If this company makes a full size glockenspiel or xylophone, I will track it down and buy it! Xylophones have wooden keys, and glockenspiels have metal keys. Though so many people just label the item with graduated sizes of keys as a xylophone, this "xylophone" is actually a glockenspiel as is almost every "xylophone" I see on the market--and especially among kids' toys. The packaging is overdone. Keep some pocket money, agreatlife, and reduce the packaging and inserts! The box itself is very sturdy and can easily be kept to store the glockenspiel in if not being kept out on the shelf. It's wrapped in twine like one might wrap a gift with ribbon, with 2 quality, unbleached thank you tags attached. Inside, a thick, quality paper with a certificate on one side and the itsy bitsy spider melody to play along to on the other. Also, 2 glossy inserts. One advertises agreatlife with information to receive a replacement in case it breaks, where to get free music sheet, joining the club, and more. The other touts the benefits of a digital device-free childhood and the importance of connecting parents and children through activities that help the child fully grow while instilling nostalgic memories. Honestly, agreatlife, save some trees and production costs, save some packaging time and personnel costs, and reduce the awesome packaging. Everything presented, and the style and materials chosen to do so, well-represent the company's values. But even the people who register this will still just throw it all away, so in the end it's just fancy trash.

Kids - young and old, enjoy playing Xylophones!
This is NOT a "received item... for giving a review" Review - I selected & purchased this product after much searching & reading reviews to find the "just right" one! I'm thankful to all those that take time to write reviews, which enable me to learn more about the product/s so I may select & order with "well informed" confidence. I try to "return the favor" by writing reviews too - some items that I'm "overly thrilled" with will inspire me to write a very detailed review. This is one of those items... MY REVIEW: Purchased and received this "Glockenspiel Xylophone" in excellent condition - plays beautifully, loving the melody! Nice sturdy storage (cardboard) box that has an "old nostalgic" aesthetics about it. Kids - young and old, enjoy playing Xylophones! Was bought with intent of "music time" play with my grandchildren. Once received, my husband played it for at least an hour, he learned to play "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" by ear. PROS: Wood & metal - NO plastic here! Sturdy, beautiful, excellent tuned tones, expect this to become an heirloom for generations to come! Beautiful, vibrate colors, marked with the "letter of each note" upon each key. Excellent value with a great bargain price (mine was purchased under $15 w/ shipping) - perfect gift for all ages. CONS: Grasping at straws here... Only "cons" I could possible come up with: - I'm "overly cautious" & am a "safety nut" when it comes to children, especially very young, less coordinated ones. That said, I may opt to find a way to add some type of "comfort bumper cushions" to the handle ends of the mallets. Just to ensure that it's less likely to have ANY possibility that it may "poke an eye out", as our grandparents would say. - The included "music sheet" is printed very small, making it more difficult for my 54-yr-old eyes to read it easily. That "con" is offset with the fact that it is printed on a heavy duty "card stock" paper, which is a "pro"! Should a "bonus gift" of including a "music sheet" be even counted as a "con"?!? hmm... - In spite of my so-called "cons", I only wish I could give this MORE than five stars!!! As the quality of this Xylophone is superb - in both craftsmanship and melody, I am looking forward to this going from "banging out fun sounds" with the toddlers to actually "making music" as they grow older. From what my husband & I have experienced, we would enjoy "making real music" upon it ourselves, too. So I went on a mega search for a "music book or sheets" to use with our new, proudly owned "Woody Xylophone". Let me say, I spent hours, upon hours (well over 10 hours!) - researching, searching and comparing countless websites AND products until I finally settled upon what I am anticipating to be the perfect "Music Pattern Song Book" companion to our Woody Xylophone. Is it any surprise, it's available here on AMAZON?! *lol* NOTE: I have yet to order this "Music Pattern Song Book" - as I'm writing this, priced @ $13.99, watching in hopes that it *might* be offered for under $10 w/ shipping - or two for $14 would be SWEEEET. *lol* Popular 8 Note Songs: Music Patterns for Glockenspiel, Xylophone, Hand Bells and Piano – September 23, 2016 Per that product's description: "Any eight-note instrument in a C to C scale can be used with this book. Sometimes instruments vary in their color scheme, but most are labeled with the letter of the notes. All of this book’s song patterns are color-coded AND letter-coded, so as long as the instrument is marked with the letter of the notes, you can play along." ***BONUS*** From the image pictured on the music book's cover - the keys are a color match to THIS Xylophone. How perfect is THAT?! Other "good to know" info that was GIVEN WITHIN THE DESCRIPTION FOR: Popular 8 Note Songs: Music Patterns for Glockenspiel, Xylophone, Hand Bells and Piano – September 23, 2016 - which I found to be very informative and worthy of including within this review, is as follows: "A Place to Begin! Many parents and classroom teachers feel unequipped to teach the next generation about music because they had little opportunity to learn themselves. (...) Children delight in banging the keys of a percussion instrument but need some help to know what to do next. (...)" "Help for Parents and Teachers! To help school teachers, parents and other community instructors start teaching music with Glockenspiel Xylophones, there are some classroom ideas at the end of this book. (...)" "Benefits! It is well documented that learning to play a musical instrument stimulates multiple areas of the brain and increases the brain’s cognitive ability, but it also enhances eye-hand coordination and balance. It can increase math ability and improve reading and comprehension skills as well as listening ability. Playing together in a group boosts leadership and team work skills and teaches discipline. Music fosters self-expression, creates a sense of achievement, relieves stress, and promotes happiness." Needless to say, I am truly pleased and more than satisfied with this Xylophone. Only thing that could possibly make this product even better? Would be to include a "music book"! HINT: Keep that in mind if you have plans of purchasing this Xylophone as a beautiful, heirloom-quality, educational & fun GIFT - perfect for any & all those that are "young-at-heart". Will be adding this to my "great-to-give" list of gifts! May even buy one more for our house, one for me & one for "them" - the beginning of our own musical group, ha! Wow! You read my complete review? :D [...] Welcome to add any comment, too. THANK YOU!

This is THE BEST High Quality sounding Wooden Xylophone that I have found! LOVE it!
This Xylophone is AWESOME! It has a High Quality sound with a wooden base and even though it is made for children, even I Love playing it! It's one of My Favorite toys that I bought for My Grandson, who likes to play with it, too. He likes using the box it came in as a "drum", also. And I like trying to play along with the songs on his children's musical programs that we watch on TV. I have purchased other xylophones for him, but ended up taking/sending them back, because I discovered this brand of Wooden Xylophone to have The Best sound quality of them all! Like I said, even I as an adult, enjoy playing it. This also comes with a Cute Eagle whistle that My 18 Month Old Grandson likes me to blow for him and that I will give to him when he is older. The only thing that I would have liked better in this xylophone set are for the 2 wooden playing sticks that come with it to be a little bit heavier, because they are very lightweight, but they still work good enough and overall I HIGHLY RECOMMEND purchasing this well made Great little Wooden Xylophone because you can't go wrong and will be Very Satisfied & Pleased with it! It is The Best High Quality sounding Xylophone that I have found. I LOVE it!!

Seriously beautiful xylophone, sounds GREAT, good quality, better than any other we've tried!
Oh man, after trying several other xylophones, we decided to give this one a shot, and boy howdy, it is WONDERFUL! The tuning is seriously actually perfect (within reason, it's still a percussion instrument, the tune is never really going to be PERFECT for every application, but the previous xylophones we've tried, I mean, yeah, they're for kids, but they don't need to be so out of tune that they hurt my violinist's ears!!! :) ) - the tone is clear and wonderful, the quality seems great, we've had it for two days now and it has already endured a lot of smashing and bashing and shows no signs breaking or anything. I love this thing so much, I'm having almost as much fun as my toddler (only almost - when it finally arrived and we opened it together he scream, "MY XYLOPHONE!!! - and ran off immediately to show his mom. :) ) Anyway, yeah, I like this thing so much I'm liable to look to this company for any other kids instruments I wind up looking for, though I'm not sure how many instruments they sell - looks like they might be more about toys and game and stuff, and usually that'd make me look elsewhere for instruments - even for kid ones I'd usually go for a "kids' instrument made by a music instrument company," than an "instrument made by a toy company," - but this xylophone sings and resonates and is tuned beautifully, 10/10 would buy again without hesitation.

Buy It!
This little xylophone is perfect for my home daycare. Here are my favorite things about it: It is wood and metal. No obnoxious plastic with condescending "kid" designs. It feels and looks like a real instrument and kids want the real deal. There are just enough notes to play some simple songs without being too complicated for very young children. The sound! It's magical!! THE MALLETS!! They are LIGHTWEIGHT!! Seriously. The kids want to play on this thing ALL.THE.TIME. If they see it, they want it. And let's be real: Little ones aren't interested in gently tapping along to "Mary had a little lamb." They are fully engaged in an all-out, major death-metal bang-a-thon on this innocent little thing. How it even survives the beating, I don't know. Regardless, those once magically tiny tones can quickly become the stuff of migraine nightmares. But thankfully, these mallets are lightweight, which very effectively inhibits the potential volume level. --Point two for lightweight mallets: if it's a stick of any kind, but even more so, one made to be banged on something, littles are going to bang on EVERYTHING with said stick, to include other children. Lightweight mallets inflict considerably less damage. Yay! And finally, the customer service. The company sent me an email to see how we were liking it and sent another sheet of music just for fun! I wasn't even asked to leave a review! Well then, aGreatLife, ask and you shall receive! Err ... ask NOT and ... you shall ... uh ... OH WHATEVER! Great company, great product! JUST BUY THE XYLOPHONE!!

Overall pretty happy with this
Overall pretty happy with this. Has a great, bright tone and seems to be in tune though I'm yet to compare the notes to a keyboard or tuner. The whistle is a cute addition though it doesn't have a clear sound (which I guessing I'll be thankful for later). Only complaint is that the low C and D are clearly crooked/misaligned, as can be seen in the picture. There's also a small chip on the wood between the white and purple keys. Better packaging would keep this better protected during shipping. Has some slight marks on the keys too but I imagine they'll get marked up quickly anyway once my 2yo gets his hands on it. So excited to show it to him today! Our whole family will enjoy this.

Beautifully made and toned instrument!
Yes, the lovely Glockenspiel Xylophone arrived safe and sound. Thanks for the extra sheet music. Our grandson, Maddox, loves the music we play on it. He tries to replicate it, but is too young yet. We also use it to help teach colors! It is a beautifully made musical instrument, and has lovely tone. I look forward to when he is older and can make his own songs and play from the sheet music. Our older son had a xylophone as a young child. One day, at a kindergarten meeting with his teacher, we hear Ode to Joy being played on the piano. We looked over, and it was our son playing it! His teacher said, "I didn't know he played the piano". We replied, "Neither did we"! He learned from the xylophone! He and his brother both are very musically talented. I don't think you can introduce music too soon. I even played several types of music to them via headphones while they were still in utero..lol I will be spreading the word on how great your product is. Any ideas on where I can get more sheet music for little ones for it? I read music & play by ear, but I'd like to have a book for Maddox. if one exists. Thanks for making such a wonderful xylophone. I appreciate the quality!

Sturdy, fun and unique
I bought the xylophone for my son’s first birthday three months ago and he’s still playing with it, it’s one of his favorite toys! The quality is amazing, that thing withstands tossing and climbing and still sounds accurate. It was really nice how it came with notes for simple songs to play on it - super helpful, thank you to the makers of this toy, you guys rock! I’ve meant to write this review for a long time now. The product is well worth your money. It’s also much more interesting to my son than the Fisher-Price one. He just keeps coming back to play with it and the Fisher Price one is staying untouched most of the time. I guess he’s drawn to the wooden xylophone because of the way it looks; it almost looks like a grown-up object as opposed to the plastic look of most of his toys. It’s cute how he experiments and finds other objects to play the xylophone with and doesn’t always use the sticks. He also likes turning it upside down and putting other toys and balls in it :D Anyways, it’s a great product, I would definitely recommend it!!
