Why use this instead of chlorine? twice the price and only half active ingredients anyway? Confusing:)

This is specially formulated for hot tubs.  Chlorine should not be used in hot tubs both for the equipment and the users.  Having had a swimming pool where I used chlorine and a hot tub where I use this product I'd say the results of purifying the water is 100 times better using this than chlorine.  The product lasts a really long time.

Does this contain chlorine.?

There is definitely chlorine in this product though it is not listed as an active ingredient. As a guide as to how much it contains, 3 tablespoons of this product will take a 400 gallon spa with almost 0 chlorine level up close to desirable level.

Question 3

Do you need to use chlorine in your hot tub as well if you're using this?

I shock it with chlorine after I change the water. Also I am using a Silver Ion Sanitizwe filter within the filtering system. Then after each use I add non chlorine shock according to the directions for the amount of water in the tub. Keep in mind if your water is hard you will need to add calcium to make it soft or it will turn your water green. I hope this helps it took me a long time to get it all right!

For anyone who has been using this successfully for a few seasons- please share your routine.  I bought this accidentally.

I have used this for 10 years along with Nature2 Clarifier, it kick starts the nature2 when you change your water every 4 months by dumping a capful of product in and running 30 to 60 min. after that initial set up I throw in a tablespoon when I get out, that way it's always ready to use that's it, simple as that!
