One Tough Cutter
I have 12 acres of fence line. We have weeds in FL that eat small animals for lunch. This is one tough cutter. I had an occasion when I was getting ready to purchase to check to see if it would fit a straight shaft Hitachi model to reach out to customer support and they were top notch. Quick to respond, ready to help, and an accurate answer. This unit holds a limited amount of string but refills are quite cost effective. Of the 4 different cutter heads I have tried this is the best. Great job Oregon Cutting helping to keep my fence lines clean and my weeds whacked.

Fitment Adapters weak threads
The product does come with the following adapters... M10x1.00mm Left-Hand Thread Female (and the threads are cut to the top/not recessed); M7x1.00mm LH-Male, M8x1.25 LH Female, M8x1.25 LH Male, M10x1.25 LH Female, M10x1.25 LH Male, M8x1.25 RH Male, 3/8"-24 RH Female. My trimmer is an old Craftsman straight-shaft "Weedwhacker" (Poulan) with a gearhead made by Husqvarna Part #530096068. It has M10x1.00mm Left Hand Thread Male on the GEARBOX, so the Oregon Adapter Hub with M10x1.00mm LH Female Adapter fit perfectly. Unfortunately, the adapter appears to be made of inferior metal and the Threads on the gearhead are made of quality steel. The threads failed on the Oregon adapter and pulled out on the first use of the trimmer head. They should be better quality steel. I don't think the threads are strong enough. Perhaps they'll consider a steel hub adaptor kit in the future. It's a great idea, but not well executed. Too bad.

Absolutely the Best Quality Product Hands Down
Well to start off I've read the reviews and the ones that complain about the string NOT feeding, the problem is usually fixed if 1. You change out the original line that came in the head, it has a tendency to not want to feed. 2. MAKE sure that you have the string installed correctly for the direction that your shaft spins, CW OR CCW or it won't feed. The others who are complaining about the hex portion melting. This is usually caused by not using the correct spacers or a bad shaft bearing causing the nut and shaft to get extremely HOT which will melt the hex. Now if you ask why I have any qualifications to comment on this product here's my background. I own a Lawn Service and use these heads on 5 of my Stihl fs94r trimmers day in and day out. I bought 30 heads last year and approximately $2,000.00 worth of string. We go through about 15 to 20 rolls a week. So in closing these are the BEST heads and the LONGEST LASTING string I have used in the 15 yrs I've been in business.

Very easy to load; decently durable line; disappointingly average at feeding out line.
The Oregon Gator SpeedLoad Head & Line system is a decent upgrade to my Troy-Bilt weed eater. The previous head fell apart and lost one of its line bearing inserts, so I decided to try this unit. It is indeed much easier/faster to reload the line than any other weed eater head I've used (and I've used over a half dozen brands now, in the course of my life, including a couple of other "easy load" aftermarket heads like this one). My only gripe is that it doesn't seem to feed the line as well as it should. I find that I have to tap or strike the head on the ground multiple times (sometimes quite hard) before the line will feed out. This is strange, since I can manipulate the head just fine by hand when the weed eater is off and inverted. For some reason, while it's actually running and being struck on the ground, it seems to get stuck a bit. This isn't very different than many other weed eater heads I've used in that regard, but I was hoping this one would finally feed line more consistently and easily. At least the line is easy to replace. As for durability, I saw other reviewers rave about how tough this line is. I would say it is slightly above average, but I still find that the line wears pretty quickly. It does not seem amazingly tough to me, but it is acceptably good quality line. If you're looking for a fast/easy load weed trimmer head, this is a good option. My advice is to check the Oregon Gator website to find your manufacturer/make of weed trimmer in order to be sure you select the right size option before checking out.

Does it FIT?
Unfortunately this 24-250 'universal' cutter head did not fit my Cub Cadet straight shaft. Looked at as many videos/tables as I could but they don't list CC models, just that it fits 95%. That being said, materials and construction look to be solid.
