Not for kids, never really worked
Not intended as a toy. Sparked once, locked up. Never walked. It is ashame the quality is not the same as the past. Not for kids display only.

Walking Tin Robot
Strictly speaking this is a collector piece, it belongs with other robots that are collectibles. While it does have functions it still is more of a show piece and should only be bought as such. The price is perfect for a re-make of the famous one and should be noted as well. I do recommend it as a collector's piece and not for children as it does have metal edges and could be somewhat harmful for younger children to play with. Otherwise an enjoyable collector's Robot worthy to be among other robots that are collected.

Very cool vintage looking robot
This is a very cool vintage looking robot, it has metal parts ansd shoots sparks, also the walking gimmick works correctly and the packaging also has a vintage look.

Great robot, barely any spark
The sparking mechanism in this robot was poorly tunes. It barely puts out a spark, as if the flint is worn or mis-positioned. It should not be worn-out since this came as a new item. I would take it apart and try to fix, but I would hate to break it. I can only give it 3 stars since the sparking is meh.

Absolute Junk
Junk! Doesnโt walk. Doesnโt spark. Doesnโt even stand up straight. The wind-up mechanism is grossly flawed. Donโt bother.

They don't make 'em like they used to?.... Er, yes they do, actually!
This tin robot, made by Schylling, really is a most excellent reproduction of the original Sparkling Mike, which was produced by the Shin Nichi Kogyo company (SNK) circa 1956.... It's really well put together and finished. The mechanism feels smooth when wound, and he walks and sparks very well. Together with his 50's artwork box, Sparkling Mike's just full of quality retro charm.

Loved the packaging and look of robot
Loved the packaging and look of robot. He only "sparked" the first time I wound him, but as I want him to "lead" my phonics lessons that is probably no bad thing! The sparks when emitted were pretty impressive-so may not have been ideal if he'd continued sparking with smallish people around.
