'A veritable treat' Daily Mail The fifth novel in Julia Quinn's globally beloved and bestselling Bridgerton Family series, set in Regency times and now a series created by Shondaland for Netflix. This is Eloise's story . . . ________________________________________ My dear Miss Bridgerton, We have been corresponding now for quite some time, and although we have never formally met, I feel as if I know you. I am writing to invite you to visit me here at Romney Hall. It is my hope that after a suitable period of time, we might decide that we will suit, and you will consent to be my wife. Did he think she was mad? Eloise Bridgerton couldn't marry a man she had never met! But before she knew it, she was in a hired carriage in the middle of the night, on her way to meet the man she hoped might be her perfect match. Except . . . he wasn't. Her perfect husband wouldn't be so moody and ill-mannered, and while Phillip was certainly handsome, he was rough and rugged, and totally unlike the London gentlemen vying for her hand. But when he smiled . . . and when he kissed her . . . the rest of the world simply fell away. Could this imperfect man be perfect for her? Find out why readers love Julia Quinn . . . This has never happened with me in the past with any writer. Even Mr King couldn’t continue his magic as I left reading his books (19 on a trot) last year and haven’t picked up even one this year from him so far. Bridgerton, as going by the TV adaptation, is the story(s) of 8 Bridgerton kids, this one is based on one of my favourite Bridgerton daughters, Eloise :). How she falls in love with, especially the way she falls for Sir Philip, writing letters to each other, which lasts about a year before she decides to run away to him, much to his amazement, without informing him in time. On top of that, Sir Philip is not only a recently widowed man but has a set of 8-year-old twins, too. Now, imagine the scene when her four brothers locate her and gatecrash at Sir Philip’s house to find their sister with a black eye :O What they do to him, I will leave that to your imagination to read for yourself, and how it all ends is amazing. As all her earlier stories have gone, this one too made me swoon, go all mushy mush in love with the way she writes her characters, but I missed Mrs Whistledown big time in this one since her cover is blown, guess she won’t be making an entry in any upcoming stories as well. So far, this is the best from the series, as I am yet to get the balance three and one add-on, which she has written to end the series. I will certainly get back if those change my favourite from the series. Do let me know if you have read this one and loved it. If not, which one is your favourite Bridgerton book? TV adaptation is total crap. Review: Lovely. - 👍

Loved it!
I love every book of this series and this is no exception. Leave aside the intricate relationship and how it grows between Eloise and Phillip, or that between the children and Phillip...they will always be close to the heart, but the essence of this series comes out in the interaction between the Bridgerton siblings! Those moments are jewels in the crown! The easy and humourous banter, and the deep love between each of them are treasures to be cherished. I would go back to each of these books only for those moments between the siblings!

Love this one!
I think I've loved all the Julia Quinn books I've read, so it comes as no surprise that I loved this one. What I loved best for this one is that marriage is not the end of the story, or a fairytale for Eloise, but a well educated decision (as far as Viscount Bridgerton would allow), and it's only the beginning of the story. I love that Eloise never stops being her and doesn't turn into "married and silent" even after becoming Lady Crane. PS I think I loved Colin more in this book than I did in his own book PPS did you know Eloise names her daughter Penelope? 😭💗

It's okay
The writing is repetitive

Romantico

To know where she belonged
The TV dramatisation wasn't for me, but I've been loving the books. This is the fifth Bridgerton novel. Eloise's story follows directly on from book four. We learn that Eloise has been exchanging correspondence with Sir Phillip Crane since his wife Marina, a distant cousin to the Bridgertons, passed away a year earlier. In his most recent letter, Sir Phillip has asked if he might meet with Eloise to discover if they might be suited for marriage. And so Eloise sneaks away to Gloucestershire... This was a great read. However historically accurate it may or may not be, I love the ritual and the awkwardness of the young people of the ton. Eloise is a confident, outspoken woman who has lived a very sheltered life. Phillip was his father's second son, set for life as a scholar before the death of his older brother left him heir to his father's title. Events in his past have left him emotionally guarded and unsure of how to relate to Eloise. Of course, they are made for each other. It takes them a couple of family crises to see this, but they eventually do. This is the first Bridgerton book to not feature Lady Whistledown's gossip sheet. In its place are extracts from various letters Eloise - an avid correspondent - has written in her past. It works, but I enjoyed the Whistledown column, and I'm hopeful for its return before the series is done.

Had to read
I have always read Julia Quinn books over many years. but the Briderton series of books. I watched and loved every season on Netflix, but I just couldn't wait to find out Eloise's story. I was not disappointed at all. What a truly amazing, beautiful story. I know the series are different from the books, but I really enjoyed this book. I laughed, cried, and emotional roller-coaster in a good way. Great read....

Amazing character building the romance is a bit slow at first but it’s made up for in the end
Very very good book. Eloise is amazing and the author does an amazing job at showing how step parents can love their stepchildren as if they are their own. With a little bit of mischief. Did see allot of people say that they found sir Philip rude but I don’t think so he shows a really good representation of feeling guilt with thoughts of being a bad parent and showing that all children really want is their parents love!
