Verena Street Nine Mile Sunset, Whole Bean Dark Roast Coffee, 2lb

I ordered the 2LB of the Nine Mile Sunset whole bean blend and I could not be more thrilled with the experience. I had never ordered coffee off of Amazon before, so I was a bit nervous. The coffee is bold and flavorful, but is not super oily when the beans are ground. I also drink the coffee without creamer or sugar, and it is not over acidic either. I used a piece of litmus paper and it read around a PH of 5, which is about normal for dark roast coffee. I am not sure why there are reviews on here that say the coffee is expensive. $20 for 2LB of small batch coffee is an absolute steal. Maybe those people are just used to Folgers. All in all, I will definitely be ordering again.

This is probably the best type of coffee bean I've ever had. I'm trying to think back on all the thousands of times I have drank coffee and I don't think I've had better coffee than the Dark Roast Nine Mile Sunset. I like trying dark roasts from all brands, and I won't diss the brands on here, I'll just say that of all of the brands I have tried, Verena Street knows my taste buds. I occasionally visit Starbucks, I don't like doing so because I am weary on if they use caution when growing coffee crops or if they partake in bulldozing down the whole rainforest. I not only love the flavor of this one, but I'm glad to know I'm drinking rainforest alliance certified coffee. Please keep the forests pure and safe, for both the animals and for the sake that coffee beans in order to taste at their best they need shade. Coffee trees are shaded by the larger trees in the rainforest.

I like dark coffee, it’s deep flavor, and l’ll try just about anything. This is very good but a tad strong for my tastes. I can’t believe I’m saying that but it’s something I couldn’t get used to as my everyday cup. I switched from K-cups to grinding myself and (for me) it’s an after-dinner treat. For reference I think Starbucks French Roast is excellent daily so it’s stronger than that. Coffee reviews are incredibly subjective (I’ve bought some duds after reading reviews) so hopefully this helps.

Excellent flavor - grinds very easily

The shipment was received quickly and exactly as ordered. Brewed in a press pot. This roast may not be "super dark" roast but it is still quite Dark! The beans could not get much more oily and that seemed to discernibly slow down the grinder. The coffee does not taste burned, but the predominant flavor is its smokiness. At $19 for 2 lbs this is a very good deal, but I prefer my coffee one or two notches lighter, still dark roast, mind you, but on the light end of dark, with caramel flavors rather than smoke. If you love DARK roast coffee you will have a difficult time finding a better deal.

I loved the flavor

I'm picky about my coffee. I also don't function in the morning until there's enough caffeine in my blood to turn it a dark brown. I tried Verena Street's Nine Mile Sunset based on a recommendation from a friend. Very glad I did. The taste is smooth, both when brewed in a French press and when cold brewed. This has become my go-to coffee for those mornings when I don't need the extra caffeine jolt of some of the "pumped up" brands. Better yet, I don't have any problem with acid from Nine Mile Sunset. Excellent brew and highly recommended as a great value for the price.

This is simply, IMHO, really great coffee, It's just right for dark coffee lovers - not too dark, not burnt, not oily. We use a french press and grind it fresh. After one bag, I subscribed to get a 2 lb. bag every three weeks. Pre-pandemic I was mostly getting Trader Joe's Bay Blend, so when I was not able to go there anymore I tried three or four other brands/roasts from Amazon, and of course, there is always Starbucks, Peets, etc. None were satisfactory. Last but not least, I love that I am supporting a small business that sources responsibly and sustainably, not buying my coffee from one of the "big" guys anymore.
