'Lonely Planet guides are, quite simply, like no other.' – New York Times 'Lonely Planet. It's on everyone's bookshelves; it's in every traveller's hands. It's on mobile phones. It's on the Internet. It's everywhere, and it's telling entire generations of people how to travel the world.' Review: Somewhat struggling with planning a trip- this helps! - First trip to Thailand, and we have found it really quite difficult pulling together the right information from the internet. With this in mind we felt it was time for some old school thinking - get a guide book and go from there. Well early days, but having read other reviews we opted to buy the 18 edition of this guide (orange one with two ladies on the cover). Honestly, Thailand is now starting to make a little more sense. The book does a good job of breaking the country down into bite size chunks and helps you think about what you might want to do on the trip. So far I now feel far better informed to start to use the internet to get the targeted research done and get an itinerary together to allow us to start booking something. Funnily enough a book is way easier to flip from page to page and return to where you started than browsing seems to be. As a book it is logical, packed with guidance on all sorts and whilst not something you might want to carry in your handbag, it has such a wealth of information in it that it guides you in understanding. On this one, sure there will be things in there that are out of date, but if it’s detail and current info then the internet helps close off your thoughts. What a great book.
