Handheld Vacuum Sealer for Food

Not as expected.

Love my handheld sealer. My only concern is: Where can I order more bags???

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  I have long been interested in the in-home vacuum food sealer systems that I have seen on TV from time to time, but have never tried them because they seemed way to expensive. However, having thrown away my share of freezer burned meat I decided to give this handheld vacuum sealer by TadaChef a try.The unit does not come with any instructions but is easy to figure out. The battery compartment is easy to find, and the top of the battery cap shows how to put the batteries in. Twist the outer cap and you are ready to go. It's a simple matter of pressing the large white button on the pink rocket ship shaped sealer, and applying the tip of the sealer to the button on the sealer bags (the system comes with 10 bags, 5 long and 5 wide) I tried two types of meat, and packaged them in the vacuum bags two different ways. I sealed boneless, skinless chicken thighs and pre-formed hamburger patties. In one bag I wrapped the thighs and patties in waxed paper (to be able to extract units without them being frozen together), in another I simply inserted the meat.It seemed to me that the bags containing the meat that was individually wrapped in waxed paper were more vacuumed out. The packs looked more “condensed” or compacted. Only time will tell which of the two systems is more efficient for keeping meat from freezer burn. I use chicken fairly regularly so my test will be to see if the meat seems less icily crystalized when it comes out of the packs.I am pretty pleased with the product so far. It was very easy to use and easy to figure out with no instructions. The only drawback is I see no way to order additional vacuum bags for this system. This means that to freeze additional product I will have to reuse the bags I have, and I cannot freeze unlimited items if I want to. To make this product a 5 star item, the vendor needs to make available the opportunity to purchase additional bags specifically designed for this system in various sizes. Due to lack of additional bags, I give this product four stars. It works great for what is available.This item is a discounted sample provided by the vendor for review consideration.

I have seen tons of infomercials on handheld vaccum sealers and never got a chance to buy any because they are so expensive. And, honestly I never thought that they would ever work. I am surprised though. I sometimes freeze berries, peas and carrots and after a while they start to smell like all the other food in my freezer and I hate fruit smelling like meat.This does not come with instructions but it is super easy to figure. You just have to take the cap off and insert the 4 batteries. It does not come with the batteries, but most of us already have some laying around.The machine comes with 10 bags. Here are the measurements: Wide(5ea, 11x10.87 in), Long(5ea, 14x8.54 in). I am kind of bummed that I do not have an option to buy more bags on the site. Just place the food item in the ziploc bag and place the machine on the button on the bags. Press the button the machine and it will suck the air out of the bags. Be sure not to overdo it though.Once again, this works. But, I would like more bags and a power cord.Sample provided without any obligations.

THE UNIT WORKS FINE....THE PROBLEM IS YOU CAN'T ORDER ANYMORE BAGS FROM ANYWHERE OR ANYONE`...!!!!!! I SENT MINE BACK FOR A FULL REFUND

Since air is the enemy of food preservation it's not surprising that commercially packaged frozen foods usually have most of the air removed from the packaging prior to flash freezing. Air removal minimizes freezer burn and prolongs the keeping qualities of refrigerated foods.There are several features to like about this vacuum sealer, which I received in exchange for an honest evaluation and review. The device is compact enough to fit in a normal kitchen cabinet drawer or it can stand up taking up very little space on a kitchen counter. Unlike heat sealed bags, these vacuum bags have a zip-closure design that allows them to be reused. The vacuum motor is powered by four AA cells that are not included in the package. Fortunately, I keep a stock of them.To seal my food, I unzip a bag, put the food in it, squeeze out the excess air, seal the zip closure, press the nozzle of this vacuum sealer against the food bag's plastic fitting and press the white power button. As the motor whirs, it sucks the excess air from the bag. It's that simple. Since we usually freeze and refrigerate foods in smaller quantities than the one gallon size bags that are included in this package, I would like to see compatible zip vacuum sealer bags in quart and pint sizes. Thus far I have not been able to find anyplace on Amazon where replacement bags for this handheld vacuum sealer can be purchased. Soon replacements bags must be made available for purchase or this sealer will ultimately become useless.
