Q: Can I purchase the hand separately? I lost mine and have cut my thumb twice now!

I doubt it, but getting a cut proof glove would work.

Q: Does this have a cover?

It comes with a protector for your hand. No cover for the unit itself, however the blades do retract flush with the bottom I have used mine for 2 - 3 years with no problem, only downside is I would like a thicker slice.

Q: Is the cross slicing blade serrated

Hi There! The Adjust-A-Slice Mandoline allows for either full slices or else a julienne (i.e. serrated) cut. There's a lever on the side of the slicer that allows you to change between the 2 modes. The top lever allows you to adjust the thickness of the slice. Hope this helps!
