A fully featured portable router with 4G/LTE built in.
This is basically a Mango (GL-MT300N-V2) with built in 4G/LTE modem capability. It does all the same things a Mango does (WiFi repeater, tethering to a smart phone or other internet device such as a MiFi) and gives you all the extra features like a built in VPN and the possibility of adding other apps from the OpenWrt library. Also it has an internal battery that can last for hours without external power. It works really well - hotel wifi? Connect and even authenticate via the hotels login page and then relay the wi-fi signal to all of your devices in the room using a VPN if needed. Load a nano sim from your favorite mobile provider and get the same result. I've used this device with most UK major sim providers and also loaded a TurkCell sim I bought from a market stall in Istanbul and set to auto, the device detects the APN settings correctly and just gets you online. 4G performance on this device seems better than using a Vodafone UK MiFI in exactly the same location - not sure why but it's a nice discovery to make. All in all I can't recommend this device enough, it's the best mobile internet device I've used and I've gone through quite a few! Definately worth the money. It gets a little warm when used all day so maybe don't put it in a small bag or case where it can't get any air but in the back of my rucksack it works perfectly!

Works well as remote IOT gateway
Our use case is fairly specific: we need a low powered WiFi router with VPN that supports eSIM in order to monitor temperature and humidity in a remote property, controlling heater & dehumidifier as needed. eSIM because it can be topped up remotely, VPN because LTE isn’t externally addressable. Low power consumption via USB is a bonus here. Puli seems to work well in this role, though you need to research and install an unlisted beta firmware in order to use GL-iNET’s own physical eSIM - a contradiction in terms consisting of a physical SIM card which supports multiple eSIM profiles and can be configured using a rather mediocre app. Search for “EIOT Club Physical eSIM” for more. All this comes at a price however, and if you just need a travel router then there are faster devices with better features. I use a GL-MT1300 “Beryl” and when I need it to provide 4G I plug in my iPhone and switch to Tethering, which charges the phone at the same time.

What a piece of kit. Fantastic in the African Bush...
Been working in the African Bush and was looking for something better than myFi. What a great purchase. Tried it in the UK with an Argos EE 120GB 365 day card. Brilliant. Went to hotels with it and connected seemlessly. Then back to the Bush. What a difference to my life with an MTN 4G card. The Puli seems to front load web streams because even when you unplug it the video on my Google streamer lasts for 60-90 secs depending on how long I have been watching. Great pictures and sound. My Apple headphones bluetooth to the streamer and cut out the generator noise with no loss of continuous sound playback through the Puli 4G. Thoroughly recommended.

The best portable 4G-Wifi Router
Secure, portable, loads of enterprise grade features but consumer friendly at the same time, OpenWrt/GLiNet firmware to thank for that. The product has an okay battery but with the features that are available make up for this. Use it for work and for travelling, easily connect up via Lan ports or use as a failover.

Does not really support OpenVPN
I bought this router because it supposedly has built-in support for OpenVPN. I use OpenVPN all the time when I travel in order to connect to my home-office network. I can't access the network remotely otherwise. However, most (as far as I know, all) work use-cases of OpenVPN operate in the OpenVPN TAP (i.e. Layer 2) mode as this is the only way to join the corporate/home office LAN, whereas this device supports OpenVPN only in the TUN (i.e. Layer 3) mode which as far as I know is useful only if you're using third party VPN providers in order to surf for porn anonymously. The advertising is misleading because it claims to support OpenVPN when it doesn't.

Perfect for a spell of Remote Working in China
Purchased this Global version (EG25G) to help me with a period of remote working in China thanks to the device supporting e-Sim For my setup i used a physical e-sim from EOITCLUB in conjunction and with NOMAD to provide a 20gb/30day package and ProtonVPN for establishing secure connection back to the UK I tested this prior to travelling to ensure the router would work as intended which did require some support from the GLI team as out of the box the firmware wasn't at a level to open up the e-Sim options on the Admin panel. Once the router had been updated to V4.7.15 all was fine and then just a case of instaling an e-Sim profile and setting the APN that applies to the provide/package purchased in the connection settings. Once tested in the UK i was confident of being able to use it without issue in China and ultimatley did so with ease. I did some initial testing, before using it for work, do detemine which VPN protocol would provide the best speed since i was going to be layering the VPN i.e. establishing a VPN within a VPN for attiional security. For my connection Wireguard gave me the best overall performance and since the network infrastructure is far superior in China connecting at 4g was perfectly adequate for my work needs. The router does get quite hot extended operation not helped with being in such a hot climate in the first place so good ventilation is a must if you don't have a nice air-conditioned space to work in. All in all a great router at a very reasonable cost with excellent support should you ever need it from the team at GLI

Can't choose roaming provider
Really liked this until roaming and found you can't select the roaming provider manually, mine is defaulting to the worst in my area.

Disappointing 4G Performance
Disappointingly slow for 4G LTE. I achieved much better speeds using an old Pixel 2XL with the same SIM card than I did with this. On paper, it sounded like it had everything I needed, but the much lower bandwidth made it unsuitable for my needs, and I ended up returning it and getting a different brand which although it had fewer features worked much faster in the same locations.

Very good if used in GSM only or ethernet only, in multiple WAN mode the GSM cell towers block the router through your USB tethering smartphone or the integrated GSM chip videos and Luci hardened configuration backup @mantellapicalyoutube on Telegram

The router itself appears to be operating well, with pretty easy configuration. The only issue is that it was sent with a couple of power plug adaptors, but none of them for the country that it was delivered to: Australia.
