Good stuff but don't trust the speed advertised
Bought this after checking many reviews. It's tough and safe and does its job without any issues in both Pc and Mac. The only downside I saw was on the speed. When I received it fresh and before loading it with my files, I got around 115 to 120mb/s transfer speed. After storing 1.5 TB files (now 2.5Tb free), the transfer speed dropped to 45Mb/s Wead and 67MB/s Read. Totally disappointed and will never recommend this to anyone who is looking for speed.

It crashed after 5 month
I bought it stayed for 5 months and then it doesn’t open its not good

The machine failed after about 1 month's use. I sent it back and its came back to me as a "certified repair" Within the last 10 months it has totally failed. I used it about 5 times during that time. I have consigned to the garbage now where it seems perfectly at home. You may ask, "Why didn't you send it back again?" And I would reply, "Because I don't want it to be returned to me again as a "certified repair." LaCie STJJ5000400 Portable Hard Drive, 5TB Rugged Mini USB 3.0 is a heap of junk. I will NEVER use this company again. I would give zero stars if it was possible.

I purchased this Lacie 2 TB SSD external hard drive to back up my Apple computer using Time Machine! It was so fast and so easy to create the back up I’m thrilled with that. I wish there was an 8 TB SSD hard drive just like it —they’re hard to find!
