The female National Pipe Thread Taper Fine (NPTF) threaded end connects with male NPT-threads. Steel provides better weldability and greater rust resistance than wrought iron. The steel body components resist brinelling and internal corrosion, and the smooth bore provides maximum flow with minimum pressure drop. A sleeve guard protects against accidental disconnection.
