My son is 4'8" and I don't want buy too big, but also want a couple years out of it. Will it be harder to use when he is over 4'11"?

Does this work on a small trampoline

we jump on a 15ft x 15ft. We have a toddler trampoline, as well. Could he do tail whips and bar spins on small trampoline? Yes. Could he do back-flips and other acrobatic tricks on a small trampoline? Yes; HOWEVER, greater risk, smaller target. The trick scooter works anywhere, it's just what skill level you or child are at, right? I don't allow my son on the small trampoline (although I know he does use it)...we have the luxury of the larger trampoline, and it is safer and more room to experiment and test yourself. My son loves the trampoline and can do a variety of tricks on it--the scooter added to his enjoyment. He could always do a back-flip, and adding the trick scooter makes it more fun and a bit of a challenge to land.

Because it's a good quality. You get what you pay for. I'm over 200lbs and I use my son's from time to time without breaking
