I have been struggling to find a good shampoo and conditioner for my hair type for a while. I have fine wavy hair that requires lots of moisture from mid-length to end, but I tend to have a very oily scalp. Either my scalp would be clean but the rest of my hair would be a dry, frizzy mess, or my hair would look nice, but my scalp would be an oil slick. I have tried SO MANY shampoos and conditioners. I was a bit wary to try this, thinking all the heavy oils would make my scalp even worse, but held out hope when I read it contained soap nuts. The first week or two were an adjustment, but after that it seems like my scalp and hair are finally on the same wavelength! There are no more oil slicks with dry frizzy ends! I found my hair responds best if I wash it twice and then do an apple cider vinegar rinse. No conditioner (I can hear all the curly and wavy haired people gasping in shock). It's summer right now, so I'll probably need to add a hair oil during fall and winter. The bar initially has an incense aroma (which I enjoy) and once the initial incense scent fades I found it had a pleasant, herbaceous almost slightly lemony smell. It lathers nicely, and I found two swipes on my head to be enough per wash. The bar also lasts a long time. I have a bob slightly past my chin and I have been using the bar as my primary shampoo (and occasionally bar soap for my face and body) for a month and I still have half a bar left. Compared to other shampoos I have tried in the past year, the price point is good for how long it lasts. Amazon's prices for the shampoo bars changes often, so I prefer to get it from a different supplement retailer that offers consistent pricing for this product.

This is seriously the best shampoo I’ve ever used. The bar of soap lathers up extremely well, and the scent is amazing. I work in pools all day and have noticed that when I get out of the pool, the smell of the shampoo is still there. When I started working in the pools, I noticed that my hair would feel like straw at the end of the day and the shampoo has completely changed that. I also use the conditioner from the same company and it is amazing as well. I will never go back to any other shampoo or conditioner. I absolutely love this stuff.

I've been looking for more environmentally friendly products, and alternatives to all the products packaged in plastics. I typically purchase natural/organic products as often as possible, so this bar was a great overall option to try, as it fit both of those preferences, and was reasonably priced. Honestly, the first few times I tried this bar shampoo, I wasn't impressed. My hair just felt different, and I wasn't sure what to make of that. Needless to say, I went back to my regular shampoo/conditioner (not your mother's brand). A few months later when my regular shampoo was running low, I decided to try the bar again. This time, giving it an honest try. Yes, it was still an adjustment, and took a week or two for my hair to balance out from the change, but I'm glad I gave it a second chance. I absolutely love it. My hair feels different when it's wet, but once it begins to dry, it is so soft & manageable. My hair was also falling out a bit more than I was comfortable with prior to using this shampoo bar, that has drastically changed. My hair looks and feels so much healthier and stronger, and it's definitely not falling out as bad. I no longer use a conditioner either. Whatever is in this bar is sufficient. Maybe the adjustment time was the bar shampoo stripping away the build up on my hair, who knows. I usually air dry my hair, and only wash it maybe once or twice a week, and it never looks dirty. I believe switching to this bar has also improved my scalp health. Overall, very pleased and would definitely recommend (just be patient and give it an honest chance).

I have thin wavy black hair, average volume and oily/dry/flaky scalp. I oil my hair 2-3 times a week, and so clarifying shampoos are my go-to. I purchased this bar in hopes of bettering my scalp health. This bar lathers really well and smells earthy, which I like. My scalp feels squeaky clean after and I follow it up with a conditioner. Note- This only happens if I don't oil my hair prior- which is why I give it 4 stars. With oiled hair, the bar doesn't wash everything off and makes everything clumpy/gunky. I've washed and rinsed 2-3 times and my hair/scalp still had oil residue. Otherwise, washing a non-oiled scalp will get the job done better. So now I wash my oiled hair with a bit of clarifying shampoo first, and then lather it again with this bar. My scalp feels super clean and my hair feels smooth, shiny and wavy. I've noticed the frizz is less too!

edit below 5 star review was written years ago. i just bought this again and used it on my body and my whole body is itching. i also put it on my hair and as started shampooing my scalp on the top of my head, and m eyes started burning like crazy. i love the smell still. i dont know if the formula changed since years ago or if my body is changing, but i cant use this on my body or hair anymore. but i still love the smell so maybe i can just leave them open around the bathoom to make it smell nice? YMMV with this one. **** i opened the mailing bag this came in and was amazed - the smell is soooo good!! a nature-y smell in the same vibe as neutrogena's rain bath and aveda products. i'm on a medication that makes me lose some hair, and i used this and my hair feels full again, it's like back to it's lioness mane. but i have only used it once so far. i have never used any other shampoo bar. i am going to take this traveling (should be good, won't spill in luggage) - so far, so good! hopefully will remember to update review if anything changes. ps my hair isn't oily. it's long, wavy and i tend to have a dry scalp - this helped it keep it's natural wave and my scalp is not itching me. also, close your eyes when you use it bc if it gets in your eyes it stings a little. can't wait to get in the shower and smell it again :-)

These shampoo bars do a great job - they suds up terrifically - and they save plastic from going into the landfill. Even though they do indicate they recycle, but I wonder if they really do…. With these bars I dont need to think about it. A bar of shampoo soap lasts me approx two months at least…..

I love this shampoo. At first, when you wash it out, it feels like other "healthy products" - making the hair feel quite dry and sticky compared to normal shampoos. But this one, as you keep rinsing the hair, starts to get silky. I wash it out till my hair feels super silky and smooth. I usually have to straighten my hair after blow drying as it looks super frizzy and witchy but with this shampoo, I blow dry my hair and it has a beautiful silky wave...I almost look like I come straight from a haircut...I have never had results like this without even trying. The smell is nice as well, my whole bathroom smells like it :)

Lasts long, cleans well. Smells fabulous... beautiful curls afterwards!

I’ve been using this for years. My hair is healthy & full. Love it. Not wild about buying 5 bars at a time but ok
