Great fan, but....
Overall a very nice fan for the price. I had an older Lasko fan that finally gave out so I ordered this Pelonis 16" fan to replace it. It's practically the same fan, though the older Lasko fan didn't have a remote, but only a 3-speed dial on the top and the oscillation control. I don't think Lasko is around anymore, and both Lasko fans and Pelonis are both made by Intertek, so they are probably the same company. Overall the quality of the fan seems good for the price. The remote works well. Remote requires two AAA batteries, which are not included. The base for this fan is nice and heavy, but not overly cumbersome. I owned an old Lasko fan about 12 years ago (not the one I replaced) and it had an extremely wide plastic based that was almost twice as large as the base for the new Pelonis, so that was nice. Everything is mostly part for the course except for two things which I will explain now. First of all, I use a fan mainly for the noise it generates so that I can sleep. I am very sensitive to outside noises and like to have the sound of a fan to sleep to. This fan is definitely louder than my old Lasko fan. I even removed the Pelonis fan blades and put my old Lasko fan blades on, which helped slightly, but the fan is still pretty loud, and I've noticed that it takes me longer to fall asleep, and when I was up in the morning, I feel like my ears and brain have been overstimulated during the night. I'm not sure if this will improve as I get used to the fan, but I'm hoping it will. So I'm really on the cusp about recommending this fan for people who want a quiet fan for sleeping. It's much louder than my old fan, but given my old fan has been dying a slow death, it may have slowed down a bit over the past 6 months or so. I have been running the fan on the high speed setting to break it in, then using the low speed setting for sleep, but now I'll discuss my next complaint. The three fan speeds are not much different. Low, Medium and High, or 1, 2, 3, or whatever you want to call the fan speeds, well, they're honestly not that different. Yes, I can hear the fan speed up slightly, but there really isn't much of a difference between the three speeds, both in speed and sound. I'm not sure if this fan is working as intended or not, but it may be an issue requiring me to return the fan back to Amazon or the manufacturer. I'm just not sure yet. For the time being, I'll keep the speed at low while I sleep and see if I get used to it. If I don't after two weeks, I'm going to need to order another fan and try something else instead. I also found myself appreciating the remote control. It's fairly basic. You can turn the fan on/off. Set the fan speed, and also set a timer. I'm not sure what the duration of the timer is, but I think 1, 2 and 3 hours? Maybe not. It's not a feature I intend to use, so it's irrelevant for me. You can't control the oscillation from the remote though, so not sure if that is a deal breaker for anyone. So overall, it's a nice fan. A bit on the loud side if you plan to sleep with it turned on in your bedroom. If not, then that shouldn't be an issue at all. There isn't much difference in fan speed or sound between the low and high settings too, so that might be an issue for some. I think if Pelonis addresses the speed issue, then there wouldn't really be anything to complain about with this fan and would have earned a 5-star from me.

Perfect fan noise to sleep to
Feels like a quality fan, very heavy and sturdy. Has a low motor noise that is great to sleep with. I've had other fans that have a high pitch whine or a rattle type noise and this one doesn't.

Love this fan
We use this fan every day. I use it when I’m at my desk, and then, we use it at night for sleep. Moves air pretty good and has a nice sound. Controls are easy to use and the remote is nice to have. Well worth the price and has been running great for over a year.

Pros and cons
I'm giving three stars: If based on air flow alone, it would be five. Five for materials. One for the noise issue on 2/3 settings. Three for instructions and ease of assembly. One for price. That's an average of three stars. I'm from the south where central hvac and ceiling fans come standard. Then I moved to the PNW where the climate historically didn't require those things, and so they're rare unless you have a new build rental, and they come at a premium. Sadly, climate change made 90°+ weather spells much more common here, and I'm struggling to keep up with my portable ac unit and collection of various types of fan. I bought this fan in desperation during one such multi-day run of near 100° weather. My pedestal fan I already had wouldn't bother a mosquito it's so weak even on high, and floor fans don't do anything for me while I'm tossing and turning in bed. I read the reviews that this one moves air with force, and that it's loud. I arrogantly assumed that people were just complaining. I'm a big white noise lover. In fact I need it due to tinnitus, so my many fans and ac unit don't bother me. I also wear sleep headphones playing rain sounds to try and drown out street noise. Welp, I should have listened to the reviews because this thing is noisy, and not in a pleasant white noise way. It's a groaning sound that I can hear over everything else, including the sleep headphones, and it kept me awake. It's the same frequency as a lawn mower, but at the decibels of a fan. Not crazy loud, but the frequency cuts through everything and is grating. It's much more tolerable on the low setting, which is still a stronger air flow than my other pedestal fan on its highest setting. The medium and high settings on this are magnificent for air flow, but the noise is just intolerable for anyone sensitive to mechanical groaning/buzzing or having sensory issues in general. Not sure yet if I'm going to keep it, tbh. I bought it specifically for sleep, and $70 is a lot to pay for something that doesn't fulfill what I bought it for, even if it makes for a super daytime fan. If it was maybe $30-40, which is what it would likely have cost a couple years ago before everything became outrageously overpriced junk, maybe it would be fine to keep for the living room and look for something quieter for the bedroom. As for materials and construction, the base is quite heavy and the grill is made of actual metal instead of plastic, which I like. It feels quite solid overall, and will be easy to open up to clean periodically. The assembly was mostly easy, but the instructions suck. If you get stuck where I did: You have to use pliers or something to grip the rod that sticks out of the motor, and turn the knob the direction indicated on it in writing, to remove the knob before you can add the back grill. Lefty loosy/righty tighty doesn't apply to these parts, which are the opposite. Also it doesn't come with tools other than the Allen wrench for the base. You'll need a Phillips head screwdriver for the body, and pliers for the rod as described above. I haven't tested the remote so can't speak to that. Only had one night so can't speak to reliability.

Pelonis black fan
These fans are amazing! Quiet and easy to put together. We are using them on our deck and the bugs are gone

Good airflow and noise, remote doesn’t work
The fan works really good. I was hoping the blade was metal, but it is not. The remote also doesn’t work from a couple feet away. The only way the remote worked was 6-12 inches away and directly lined up with the sensor.

Noisy at high speed.
It’s decent.

Finally a good fan
This fan is a lifesaver! I do not have AC in my house and the summer heat has nearly killed me int he past. Distributes air very well and I often only need to use the lowest setting to receive powerful relief. Remote has good range. Very easy to set up too. Only downside is that the beeping noise when changing settings (or turning ON/OFF) is obnoxiously loud.

Works great!
I get all the breeze I need on the low setting. Very powerful fan. I love having a remote to control it. It is kinda loud though.

Wow!
