Dumb question how do I get to roll on part?

You turn the white cap/top counter clockwise ( like a clock running backwards). If it seems hard to do that at first, sometimes running some hot water will make the turning easier. Then the green ( or purple roller... inside,) once you get the top off, will begin to pull up the liquid. I am not sure if I answered your question or not? Someone else may have understood and/or worded better than I. I hope I answered your question tho. I really like this product, and basically live with it on, day and night.
