I ordered this set of two Eldon blood type test cards during my pregnancy after a little slip-up that had my midwife concerned. As an Rh-negative mom, it was important to determine my husband’s blood type quickly so we could decide whether I needed the Rhogam shot within the critical 72-hour window. These test cards arrived overnight—which I really appreciated given the time sensitivity—and were super easy to use at home. The instructions were clear, and the process was straightforward. Having two tests in the kit was especially helpful because it allowed us to confirm the result for accuracy, which gave us even more peace of mind. And sure enough… my husband is a positive blood type. 😅 Having these on hand gave us peace of mind and helped us make a quick decision without needing to schedule a lab appointment. My 13 year old wanted to know her blood type. I bought two of these thinking one for my 13 yr old and one for my 15 yr old. They are home schooled and I thought these could be educational. It was very educational for them because suddenly they wanted to know who in history shared their blood type. This then went to them researching countries with the most people who share their blood type. Before I knew it they knew historical events, foods for blood types, people in current and history with the same blood type and the difference in RH +/-, which had them researching so much more. Had I known my educational goals for them would be met simply by knowing their blood types I'd of ordered these a lot sooner. It also taught us all that out of all 5 of my kids (3 adults) only my 1st born (now 30 years old) shares my blood own blood type (RH -) the rest are RH + The kit was easy to use. My daughter is a T1 diabetic so she frequently pokes her finger to test her BG, she said the lancet that comes with the kit was sorta painful compared to her diabetic lancet but testing for BG doesn't require as much blood so it made sense to me. Reading the results was easy because they have pictures of all possible outcomes. Compare the card to the pictures and you'll have your results.

I think the description says this test can be done in 10 minutes. I guess, I am slow, or maybe they literally mean the time it takes to do the steps required and not the time it takes to figure it out in the first place. To be clear, it isn't difficult, but the first time through is definitely slow. Three takeaways from my experience (I had to use two test kits). 1) Step 2 is to use the tiny plastic squeeze bulb with water to wet the test circles. Should I use distilled water? I used tap water <shrug> 2) Work quickly once you prick your finger. My finger stopped bleeding before I had time to get blood on all the samples. (Hence, I had to use of another test kit and prick my finger again). 3) When putting blood on the EldonStick, don't try to put it in the little cup-like part. Put it on the bottom. If you look at the instructions, the drawing shows this, but I couldn't resist treating the thing like a little dipper--don't be like me. Put it on the flat part and then smear it around in the test circle. Finally, one last critique, is that I wasn't sure how to interpret the results. They give some pictures of agglutinated samples, but to my untrained eye, it still seemed kind of subtle.

Simple to use if you scan the QR code on the package that takes you to a website with a video. I was a little concerned with some of the reviews but I honestly don’t know how people have so much trouble with this. If you can follow instructions on a video you will be fine. Some people also mentioned they couldn’t get enough blood out of their finger…mine was darn near squirting out so maybe they changed the needle. I actually thought the needle was a bit too big in my opinion.

Very Effective. My kid wanted to know his blood type and my husband did not know his blood type so I ordered the two pack of this. It worked great, results were very clear.

Me and my daughter were curious what our blood type was and I came across this, so we used them as a little science experiment. You prick your finger and put blood on different parts of the card, then check it against the sheet they give you to type your blood. It works through the way your blood reacts. It gives you type- A,B, or O and rh pos or neg. You can also seal the card in plastic and keep it if you want.
