Will it hold a 6 pack of 12 ounce long necks of bud light?

You can stand them up and they fit. It's hard to close the lid because the bottle cap wants to hang on the cover.

Will this hold 4 16oz bottle of water laying down couple cans of pop snack cakes and food containers?

I don't think it would hold all of that at once. I carry 2 16oz bottles of water plus food containers and that about fills it up

How durable is the locking mechanism after prolong use?

The side button design is more durable than the top button ones.
